FOH NRL Comp

After 26 weeks, Steve (@golfdude888) has come up trumps in the NRL tipping comp, with John (@JohnS) in second, and I scraped in at third place.

John made a late charge in round 18, but just couldn't catch Steve, who started the season strong along with Ben (@bayala). Interestingly, round 18 also saw the downfall of Ben, with only 2 correct tips against John's 10. The fight for third place was close, with Ken (@Ken Gargett) and I jostling for position till the very end. If Ken had tipped the Eels instead of the Broncos in the last round, he would have been in third instead of me, based on margins.

Thanks to Rob & crew, and all tippers for playing. And congrats to Steve for taking the win! Great tipping, mate!!

The ells thrashing of the Broncos yesterday was the best thing that could have happened. 

Eels, Roosters, Storm, Canberra, Manly ........there are some cracking games coming up.

to be honest, i did not even know that the finals were part of the comp so did not put in any tips.  so they allocated me one out of four - the raiders. in my other comp, fuzz, i got 3/4 and missed the raiders. 

but please explain to me why the comp stops after one week of finals? surely it is end of standard rounds or all rounds plus finals. they are still taking tips? why have we stopped?

Ah, crapola! The game is not finished yet! Go to your round 26 tips and scroll down! The additional selections were not visible when I checked last night and this morning.

They have not put the next rounds as a separate week. So everybody get back to tipping.

Well, the NRL Grand Final is over, and the Sydney Roosters have taken the trophy... albeit under some minor controversy. Kudos to the Canberra Raiders, they played a great game.

But more importantly, Steve (@golfdude888) has come out trumps, followed by John (@JohnS) and myself... so no change from my post a couple weeks ago. John's late season charge to the front was left a little too late.

jesus fuzz, what do you need for a major one? an on-field murder? 

speaking to a serious sports fan earlier today. he said he now views league on a par with horse racing. simply does not trust the admin or believe it is an honest comp. must say a bit hard to disagree. 

i spoke to someone after the roosters/storm (a game which i think we can all agree is a bit like a gangland war - who cares what happens as long as they beat each other into oblivion). i mentioned that it seemed to me that there was no way the officials were going to allow the storm a chance. every 50/50 went with the roosters. every tiny little thing. wondered if i was imagining it. they had thought exactly the same thing. doubt we are on our own. ditto last sunday. 

as for the final, spare me. at least with horse racing they can pretend to bring in the stewards. that game stunk. to hear the ref claim he did not signal 6 again? he is the only bloke not living on the moon who thought that. 

and then that muppet greenberg - the bloke who is supposed to run the entire show (and came from a club which was hardly squeaky) - comes out and says that the roosters don't cheat the cap. they just manage it better than everyone else. even their own fans call it a sombrero, not a cap. when you have nothing but internationals, including on the bench, something about quacks like a duck springs to mind (and i say that as no fan of canberra and there have been plenty of times i'd have happily seen ricky stuart dropped in a barrel of ebola). 

that final has done them massive damage. and the only people who can't see it are the officials themselves. and the roosters fans who don't care (and if i was one, neither would i).
