Newbie here looking to set up a Coolidor- what is your humidity set up

I currently have three humidors all of which I am using a 50% glycol solution with a few bovedas. Now that I found this forum and am starting to appreciate the selection and quality of cigars available, I am thinking I may want to get s coolidor stocked and properly age some of what I have and stock w a few more boxes. 

Im wondering how many folks use the glycol/water solution suspended in something like a wet floral foam, or is it beads or the bovedas?

i have what seems to be a lifetime supply of glycol so I’m leaning in that direction. But with a new set up comes new opportunities. What are the experiences with the Coolidors. Looking for any tips to make my aging successful. Basement location and good large sealed cooler already at hand. 

If beads are the must do, any particular brand to use or stay away from?

hoping the foam glycol route will work, but also don’t want to ruin some expensive cigars to save a few bucks on humidification

Bovedas or Heartfelt beads at 62% rH, assuming your stock is Cuban and your room temp is a fairly stable 70 dF.

Don't save bucks on humidification.  Bovedas are cheap, rechargeable, reliable.

2 x 320g 58%RH Boveda in my Whynter 251 and cigar life is soooooooo stress free.

Throw that floral foam crap right in the garbage. Use either Boveda or Heartfelt industry beads. I use the beads in one unit and Boveda in the other. Both work great and it’s amazing how little you need to recharge them. 

I’d recommend also either the Boveda sensor or the sensor push. Both work very well.

^^ This. One thing I would add. In my (limited) experience the Heartfelt beads seem to outperform Boveda in larger humidors. I use both at the moment (set to 65%) in one larger humidor (500 count) and just Boveda in the smaller one (150 count - again 65%). Before getting the beads the larger humidor struggled sometimes when the external humidity was higher than 65%. The beads in larger spaces seem better at sucking up all that extra humidity and generally keeping things stable.

I use approximately one pound of 65 percent heartfelt beads per 120 quart cooler (now on my fourth one). It works fine. I’m sure Bovedas would work too but long term, I think the beads are cheaper. I don’t open the coolers a lot and the humidity stays around 64 percent most of the time.

I use kitty litter in an old nylon. Give it a few sprays of dw from time to time. A couple of tiny fans for circulating and it holds at 65rh. No problem. I also have the sensor push in all my humis.

If you're going to use beads, then heartfelt is the way to go based on my research and personal experience.  That said, I have also used the large Boveda bricks in a coolidor with great results.

2, 150qt Coleman extreme coolidors. Heartfelt 60rh beads. 1.5 lbs recommended per cooler but I use 3lbs. Stable at 62rh longer with more beads. Year round temp is 70.

About 50 boxes per coolidor. Filling the space will also help with rh stability.

Hello. 

My name is Rhinoww and I have a problem thanks to you all. 

Big package coming from heartfelt industries with a lot of beads and empty tubes. Humidors and coolidors will be much better regulated. 

Also found my way to a few orders on 24:24 lately. Very excited about the box of PSP Bolivar Petit Caronas headed my way. Been wanting to try those for a long time. Could not pass go. 

Will be hard to wait a month after they arrive to allow them to acclimate. 

Glad im heading to where WiFi will be difficult for a few weeks. SWMBO will not be amused with the surge of cc charges for cigars as she tolerates my hobby at best. To date I have been off her books w PayPal. A few Benjamin’s will spark a conversation. Hope the lighter spark makes up for it. I’m sure it will  

May the collection and aging/rotation truly begin. 

Not sure my argument that I need to fill a Coolidor to sit with the Hoyo’s my in laws brought me back from Cuba will work, but a man has to try
