Popular Post Edward7
I just returned from a trip to visit the future in laws in London and also a trip to Puglia/Milan and Lake Como, for a wedding and also to plan my own wedding. I’ve been to James J. Fox and Davidoff before but this time around I was able to check out a couple more places and poked around in any humidor I could find in any hotel bar just to get the lay of the land. I must say WOW at the things you find in London. Everything ever produced aside from exclusivos of some other countries seem widely available. I had a Saint Luis Rey ex Cuba at the Wellesley Hotel which is known to focus on their cigar program. Very unimpressed with this cigar but fun nonetheless. The humidor here was beyond impressive. Every major Cohiba EL was available at prices ranging from £200-300 and all sorts of other cigars I tend to only see on instagram glamour shots. They even had the original hand numbered Behikes that were produced before they created the Behike band. These went for £5,500 and the 50th anniversary humidor was available for sale at roughly £500k for the humidor and 50 cigars inside it. He said he couldn’t handle any of them because if he dropped one, he would be on the hook for £12,500. Wellesley also had a whole slew of Exclusivos and Gran Reservas, all seemingly running from £60-300. Siglo VI’s which are my benchmark for pricing and for enjoyment went from as low as £45 at Duke’s bar inside the hotel and as high as almsot £80 at the No. 10 Manchester st. Hotel. Harrod’s had a smaller but fantastic selection of difficult to find cigars as well due to it being the only LCDH near the city, other than the LCDH in Teddington. Kind of found it hilarious how Juul pods were so proudly displayed even in the window of James J Fox of Harrods, surrounded by expensive Elie Bleu humidors. Kinda like displaying priuses amongst Aston Martin Zagatos and F12 TDF’s I picked up some Connie B’s and fundadores, Lancero, as well as a single of the 2018 Taco and a Bolivar EL 2014 Super Corona. Guy said that the 2014 smoked nicer than the younger Soberano. The pricing makes London the absolute worst place to purchase regular production Cubans. Thank goodness they get some of the world’s best selection to entice you to buy anything. I found absolutely nothing near Lake Como and nothing remotely close to the agricultural seaside towns down in Puglia, Italy. I did stop in Noli in Milan by the cathedral and they didn’t have much selection. Just grabbed a box of the La Gloria Cubana Ex Italia Invictos. They had 800 boxes of the production run at €150. However I was mildly disappointed to find out that the LCDH near Linate airport in Milan also had a massive stock of the same for €135. No one, my fiancé nor her family really like when I burn time stopping inside any shop within walking distance of our path, but I love seeing the eye candy. Some photos below.
