Popular Post shippers Posted April 25, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 25, 2019 The weather was wonderful over the Easter weekend in the UK and while visiting my parents I lit up two great looking but young cigars: H Upmann Sir Winston - 08/18 Box Code RUM Partagas Lusitania - 04/18 Box Code ABU I didn't take any pictures or make notes so my thoughts below are from memory. The Winston despite its youth was smooth all the way through with no rough edges - so much so that I nubbed it - something I was not expecting! But the flavours seemed a little one dimensional. Creamy and sweet throughout with some non-specific nutty notes but not much progression. However, the Lusitania was big and bold right out the gate. Sourdough bready flavours with rich roasted tobacco to start. It developed some molasses-like sweetness at points. Much more complex. But unlike the Winston, the last third was rough as expected for a young cigar to the point where I had to give up much before I wanted to. And the nicotine hit! It has been a while since a cigar made me feel so heady. Both cigars were great and with some more age I think will develop into something really special. Out of the two, I think the Lusitania just edged it for me despite its harsh youth filled finish. The flavour profile in Lusitania just gave it an edge. But I think (and hope) the Sir Winstons with more time down will develop a more complex flavour profile - at that point, I wonder if it will be too close to pick between them! 9
CaptainQuintero Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Sounds like it was a good weekend! I think you can't go wrong with either, both are classics and age amazingly well but are very approachable young. You'll have to make it an annual event 1
shippers Posted April 25, 2019 Author Posted April 25, 2019 It certainly was! Yeah, I wouldn't turn either down even when young they are still great. Ha, that's not such a bad idea!
CaptainQuintero Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 I'm still in a state of shock with the weather, sun burnt for the last two weeks now black skies and storms and freezing, no idea what to wear! 2
El Presidente Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 Young Lusi's are a little like 19 year old star footballers. Flashes of brilliance but more development required 4

Very similar to the Connie A Yep I think so. I'm amazed how well they smoke given the youth. I kind of wish I hadn't tried one as now it will be much harder to keep my hands off the rest if the box!
BrightonCorgi Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 That must've take a couple of hours to smoke both.

havanaclub Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Nice review. Makes me want to crack my RUM July 18 HUSW box. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ohbob976 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Smoked a young Lusi yesterday and a young Winston the day before as well. Winston outshined the Lusi by a mile. 2 1
Randolph Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Sir Winston is certainly my favourite cigar - I have a few for special occasions. I probably smoke a couple a year - each time its a memorable event.
Connoisseur Kim Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Love Lusitanias and it's one of the greatest CC I've ever had! I'd like to try Sir Winnie as well. ?
Gorangutang Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Great review - thank you. I’ve been trying to get my hands on some Sir Winstons, but they’ve been tough to track down.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
