Popular Post CaptainQuintero Posted March 16, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 16, 2019 Continuing the theme I've apparently adopted for these reviews, it's another Laguito no.3; the Montecristo Joyitas. I've never actually been a huge fan of this size, it smacks of dashing out for a nicotine fix. So this stick has been knocking around in the humidor for years, being passed over time and again. Time to take your chance little guy, make the most of the opportunity! Perfect draw to start off, which is a little surprising considering the trouble Cuba has with cigars that are a lot easier to roll by hand. Straight off it's like a 6+ year old no.3 which is an excellent thing. Raisin, vanilla, milk chocolate, well creamed coffee and just a touch of leather. Great stuff Second third and the leather has grown to dominate. However it's soft and buttery, far away from the tannic edge that can be found in younger cigars. The raisin, vanilla and coffee has fallen by the way side too, replaced by molten dark chocolate and a hint of digestive biscuit. Final third and the rich molton dark chocolate plus the digestive biscuit has completely taken over; no more leather or anything else in fact. As the cigar progresses the chocolate is slowly getting darker and more intense, as if the percentage of cocoa is climbing. A note needs to be said about the aroma, from the very beginning the cigar has been pumping out the most amazing clouds of chocolate, like when you walk into a chocolate shop and you can smell the magic being worked in the back. Nubbed, and I hardly ever find myself doing it. 25 minutes long. Incredibly rich. Sheer brilliance. Easy 96/100 Like a shot of melted chocolate. Will have to seriously consider adding these into my standard rotation with some years on them, pleasantly surprised. 11
Perla Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Thank you for your Review ??? Love them with a espresso during my lunch break. Marvelous. And with age even better.
Phillys Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Great review! I have been looking at these lately and wondering what they were like, will have to find a few to try. Plus, if I don't like them my wife would probably love them. What did you think of the tiny rg? I am a big fan of skinny's, but this is significantly smaller than a demi-tasse.
IanMcLean68 Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Thanks for the great review @CaptainQuintero! I used to smoke these every now and again in my early days. Loved them for that quick shot of Montecristo goodness. My B&M at the time stopped stocking them because of notoriously inconsistent construction, so they kind of fell out of favour. Will have to seriously consider trying these out again. 1

To be honest it isn't an issue, the feel in the hand is very similar to a Lancero, it doesn't feel like you have a Chico/Puritos nipped between your fingers. I'd always avoided mainly due to thinking the same as you mentioned, but I'm turned after this. Certainly feels a lot more cigar-like than something like the LGC #3 1
