99call Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Punch Punch 16, Aroma at cold Pencil shavings, clove, buttery. 1st 3rd Opening is loads of cedar pencil shavings. A FOH member called Wrigleys ‘Juicy Fruit’ gum on Punch in general, mainly DC’s, but I think it’s a genius call. A nice touch of cinnamon and cloves. Smoke of the foot and retro, are both lovely, but not too much flavour on the palette, which is a shame. Tiny touch of manure 2nd 3rd Starting to get going now, if the juicy fruit and pencil shavings were at 5 before, they’ve now been turned up to 8. lots of clove. Flicking between all the sweet spices with nutmeg coming in. Wow, i’m not a massive punch fan, but the draw has just opened up (this was a very well packed cigar) and now it’s pretty bloody good 3rd 3rd The pencil shavings is a little overwhelming, a wish it was tamped back a little. Smoke of the foot, just delightful. I little bit of hospital iodine smell coming through, but very pleasant. Lots of cream cloaked around these flavours. The cigar finishes in quite an earthy tone, with lots of rich barnyard/manure aroma. Conclusion I don’t really like whisky with cigars, but I could really see this pairing well.As i’ve mentioned, I’m not a massive punch fan, but really reconsidering my next purchase option. Really not that much of a DC smoker, but if they revisit the Ninfa, I’m all in!! Score 91. Improved incrementally throughout the cigar. Lots of evolution and complexity. Really made me think twice about Punch 4
KING BROWN Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Racing through a box of Sept 17 Punch - Punch Punch. Never thought I would again enjoy that delicious and lush tanginess, that came with the Punch Petite Coronas del Punch that I absolutely gorged on back in the early 2000s, until now. 1

The PCdP were a great cigar. A sad loss. If you like short format smoked with plenty of flavour and a bit of ompff. Check out the R&J Petit royales. Great new addition.

Between my GF and myself, we destroyed a box of Party shorts that were 2015 March I bought on 24 sale. I find myself often reaching for a smaller cigar, those or a petit corona, monte 4. Curious if you may be able to recommend some other tres petit corona / minuto format cigars that are great smokes?

On the light side there are still 2015/16 Rafael gonzalez petit Corona on the market that are fabulous. 2016/17 TOS code Por Larranaga Monte Carlo are a great step up in body. And then if you want something heavy go for a Bolivar Petit Corona. Many folks of here enjoy the SCDLH El Principe. But they're not my bag 1

Defo check out the R&J Petit royales. Good and cheap and for a small cigar they've got a lot of oomph. 1

After the first box I had, I put them in the rotation, and bought 5 more boxes. Fantastic stick for the money. 1
