Epi 2 is one of my favourites and a bit of age will lift them to a whole new level. If you can, park a few sticks and forget about them for 5 years. You'll be in for a treat in 5 years time.

Enjoy the box

Cheers

  • JohnS changed the title to Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2

This is the one that stood out the most to me from my inaugural New to Cuban's Sampler.  I'd never known that sweet cream could come from a smoke.  Such great yet subtle flavors that I was still enjoying them over an hour after I'd finished the thing.  I have a couple of boxes on the way and plan on marking one, "Do not open until 2022."

I have some PAL JUN 08 and smoked one yesterday. Well worth the wait. Mine have much lighter (and very thin...) wrappers, but the flavor was still excellent. Sorry, no pics as I am away from my collection at the moment (and yesterday smoked the one Epi 2 I brought with me). They do age well.

I really love the Epicure #2, and am waiting on a box presently. It's funny, I really wanted to like the #1 better as I prefer the vitola, but the more of each I smoked the more it seemed that the blend was suited to the wider robusto format.

To tag team off the OP, I don't have a lot of experience (read: any) with aging cigars. I've smoked a few that I bought aged, but never done so myself for any real time.

For those of you who recommend aging the epicure #2, how would you say flavor profile, strength, body, ect. Change with 5 years of age? I'm curious because I generally associate aged cigars with a smoother and milder flavor and strength, and it doesn't (to me) seem that the epicure's I've smoked would necessarily benefit from that since they are usually smooth and mild to the nub, unless they get too hot.

Thanks for your time!
