I found out my wife was working late tonight, so I reached for a cohiba esplendido to pair with my favorite brew. The beer is simply heaven. I bought a 1/2 case over the summer, and am down to my last 5 bottles. Sad times... The esplendido is from a 3 pack cardboard pack from last year. They have been superb examples, and this one was the best by far. The cigar starts out pure cohiba bliss. Hay, honey, toasted tobacco. Perfect construction, draw, flavor, burn. No single aspect could be improved. Around the end of the 1st third, it starts to add lemon zest and cream to the mix. The kind of flavors that make your eyes roll back in your head with each puff. Pure bliss. Oily mouth coating pure cohiba bliss. The beer is intense, and as the cigar picks up in intensity it really becomes a match made in heaven. Smoked it down to the nub and wished there was more. Dinner was filet mignon, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Nice way to end the experience. I love dogfish head 120 minute ipa and the Cohiba, great pair, I had a flight of goose island bourbon County stout Sunday, 5 different varieties, I was dying to pair it with a H Upmann Royal robusto, however there’s no smoking in public bars or breweries in Illinois ? great review brother! 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
