This is just a starting point for me as I realize that everything there depends on availability.  Are there any particular years or box codes that you would suggest for these?  Feel free to make additional suggestions as well.

Custom rolls.  Get as many as your checked luggage can hold

You can get everything on your lists from Rob unless you come across some Sir Winston’s or cabs of double coronas.

Honestly I think you can get most of this stuff for relatively cheap outside of Cuba ......I’d be going for harder to find stuff and cabs of things that might be a huge bargain for you where u save a lot ......

I know that I can get it online, but hey since I'm going to be there.  I'm relatively new to the Cuban game, so what would be some of the harder items to find and at what price point?

I do plan on getting some customs.  With regard to the amount, are the Cuban customs and US customs agents sticklers for the 100 cigar limit?

Just returned to the U.S. from the Havana via Miami last week.

Miami customs is a breeze.  Worst case,  you pay a duty on over $800 dollars worth of stuff but I've never been asked anything by customs in miami.

Regarding leaving Cuba, definitely get Facturas for boxes and receipts for custom rolls.  They seem to be cracking down on if you have 2 boxes or more.  I've been harassed the last 2 times I've been there and heard horror stories from others so get those facturas!

We will actually be coming back through Ft. Lauderdale.  I've been reading through a lot of posts on the Cuba forum, so am familiar with the facturas and plan on getting receipts for everything.

I would grab custom rolls and Trinidad Fundadores.  My understanding is that Fundies are a bit cheaper on the island and a great smoke.

Like others have said, I'd focus my energy on harder to find cigars and customs.

Look for regionals like Upmann RR, Hoyo Elegantes, or RA Superiores. These are much cheaper in Cuba. Same is true for Upmann Noellas and Connie A. Trinidad and Cohiba in general are also cheaper.

Don't buy Sir Winston there if you are going in early December, but do pm me where you saw it. :)

Regionals? You mean LCDH exclusives? Yes, some of the best deals, in my opinion, in Cuba. Fundies for 260 cuc are a no brainer. I think the Noellas are around 122 CUC, another no brainer.

I'll be in Havana tomorrow.  I'll try my best to leave you a box.

I went through Ft. Lauderdale a month ago. Easily the most pleasant experience involving my passport, ever. I was through Immigration and Customs in under 10 minutes.  Agent didn't say anything to me other than "Welcome home."

Fear not about the Sir Winston. This photo was taken last Friday at the Partagas LCDH. Plenty to be had. Saw a handful at other stores as well. 826c89237c15cf004d880f5624ff6805.jpg

Most stores will  not allow you to in the humidor.  However I asked and was allowed to open all the boxes I intended to buy at the counter before purchase.

Since when? when I went this year, I went to nearly every LCDH in Havana + other stores, and went through all the boxes I wanted. The only issue I had was at the airport when they were being assholes and not wanting anyone in their store at all.

All I can speak to is my experience.  At the Nacional I looked at an open box of Fundis when the man working there saw that he scrambled in the humidor asking me not to open any in the humidor.  At Partagas they didn't even like the idea of anybody in the humidor.  Several others expressed the same.  Again just my experience not necessarily a policy or rule.   I got to inspect all that I bought so it didn't bother me and I didn't feel the need to push the issue.

Just remember, if going through the Varadero airport, they are being real dicks about custom rolls. I just went through there yesterday and had 5 bundles taken by their customs officers. "Only 20 allowed". Not sure how strict they are at Havana's airport. Just an fyi...
