I like the concept....not sure about the execution. $2300 is steep.

MALLMANN'S GRILL

Argentinan chef Francis Mallmann has brought traditional Patagonian barbecuing techniques to the mainstream through his firey restaurants around the globe. The key to his signature char comes from his towering domed fire pits. To emulate this process at home, Mallmann has partnered with Best Made to create a line of outdoor meat alters. These grills stand eight-feet tall and feature ventilated firebox that replicates a chulengo pit roaster that works with both wood and charcoal. Meats can be cooked right over the flames on a grated grill, seared on a flat top, or hung from above for smoking. The entire piece is made from steel and crafted in Argentina.

That will work fine when the 30km/hr sea breeze kicks in.

The pineapples will be horizontal !!

I'll stick with the Weber and put a lid on the food

That’s what I thought! And how big a pile of charcoal will be needed to roast these chickens a meter above the fire pit?!

No comment on the price, „a few bars of steel welded together“ and this thing cost 10 times as much as your basic Weber!? No way!

I‘ll get some rebar from Homedepot and will build my own bbq-cage next summer for a hundred bucks!

That thing is ridiculous. But I have eaten at a few of his restaurants, all very good, and stayed at his hotel in Uruguay where they cook some pretty cool stuff over open flame. Quite a production and great food followed by many cigars.

No good - even Francis most often use just this large cast skillet over open fire. Enjoy this breakfast guys! BTW  - he also smokes quite a lot of 50 cab cigars ?

Really? A coal basket, 2 grates, and a basic rack? For that price, I expect to the grates on a pulley system and a rotisserie mount. You can get a nice smoker, gas grill, and charcoal grill instead. That setup can be achieved with a stack of fire bricks and cinder blocks... and a basic mig welder and steel rods.
