bpm32 Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 The new things are "sour double IPAs" and "juicy IPAs", so um, should make everyone happy, right? I like the name--"Logical Step": https://www.taphunter.com/beer/alvarado-street-brewery-logical-step/4972170891624448

Ehhh a little hesitant about that part, otherwise it sounds delicious.
... Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 I struggle with smoky porters and can't do sours. I've tried many makes but prefer anything else ? 1

Sour beer could be something i like in the future, but I highly doubt it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk I tried a sour beer about 2 years ago and really fell in love with the style. I can't drink it all the time but I do routinely enjoy one.
LGC Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 It better be an aged Belgian Trappist ale... and nothing less...750 ml or magnum
teewinot Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 I have a few beers aging in the cellar that may approach $37. Several from Deschutes. 09 and newer Abyss and Black Butte bombers, Chimay blue, and some older Goose Island stuff before they were bought by an evil empire. In saying that, I’m not opposed to an icy Coors from time to time for hydration purposes. 1
JohnnyO Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 Schmaltz makes a Imperial stout "Jewbalation" from Sept-Nov that has had as high 16% that is a tremendous bang for the buck (under $10/22 oz bomber) Dark Lord in April-pricey but they have a lot of little brothers that are very good Dark Horizons-17% paid $25 for a bomber worth every penny Breakfast Stout by Founders-$10/4 pack 8.3%, tremendous value There are others Ten Fiddy, Hoppin Frog, Southern Tier makes a few Imperial Stouts that above 10% that are outstanding and wont break the bank
Kitchen Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 If I had the opportunity to purchase and try a Westvleteren 12, I would certainly pay that much. I love Belgian beer. For anything else, even a Rochefort 10, that is too damn high.

I've read a few postings in various places online that said it was a lot like St. Bernardus 12, but they aren't similar at all. St Bernardus is a lot sweeter and almost syrupy to my palate, whereas Westvleteren is much deeper and more complex.
