Wow an ounce per day? That seems like a lot. Do people buy marijuana like we buy cigars--in bulk to save money in the future? lol do they age marijuana? I'm sure the humidity level differs greatly from tobacco

You know the difference between a drunk driver and a stoned driver? The drunk driver runs the stop sign.  The stoned driver... waits for it to turn green.  Thank you, thank you. I’m her

Sentimental thought perhaps but not true.  Being high on cannabis alone impairs one's driving ability.  It slows reaction times.  It impairs attention.  I don't want to be on the road with anyone unde

I imagine it is cheaper to buy in higher quantity verses buying by the gram.  Interestingly enough, Boveda has humidity packs specifically for cannabis.

What’s driving me nuts is the government spending my money to run the same commercial about why they legalized it over and over and over again on TV. Any time the government comes into new money that can’t spend it fast enough.

*Yes...that was what I had emphasized in my earlier statement - people who are high on the cannibus ONLY...NOT with other substances in the blood system like alcohol, and Oh My God - sedatives too!? Uhn unhh   I know there are no absolutes in "studies" or "experience", etc. But on the whole Marijuana smokers are safer to deal with, period, than violent drunks, passed out opioid pill users...dummies putting makeup on looking in the rear view mirror instead of looking ahead, folks with too little sleep...ad infinitum.

I've read cannabis tends to elevate the effect of other intoxicating substances, especially alcohol. I've also read that it helps people concentrate, reduces stress and anxiety, and improves creativity, so what does that do to anyone operating a motor vehicle? And how long does it last?

I don't really know, but I have not seen any significant research on the effects of cannabis on driving. I suppose this is something that probably should have been researched before legalizing it. Unfortunately, cannabis is still considered a schedule-1 drug with no medicinal value, so researchers need DEA approval to do any research, and they must comply with very strict rules and security standards (think expensive), so I doubt there will be any significant research on health and human effects any time soon.

In the meantime, I guess the police don't know what it does, so in the absence of research and empirical evidence they will simply err on the side of caution and charge anyone with even a minor trace of cannabis in their system. Another problem is a lot of corporations are fumbling with how to deal with cannabis use. Companies that do random drug testing are still dismissing people that test positive for cannabis, even in states where it is legal (medicinal or recreational). For now I think it is a gamble to smoke, even if you're not high, just having traces of the drug in your system could lead to prosecution.

I can see how it could be a huge liability. Imagine an accident--not necessarily vehicle-related--and serious injury or death occur as a result, and you are the only one present or involved. Sometimes mandatory screening is a basic requirement. Boom! Could be life in prison.

THC can dramatically slow down your cognitive abilities, so I would never recommend anyone drive while under the influence. Same with any other prescription drug (opioids anyone?).

I'm all for legalisation of pretty much everything.  But what really grinds my gears is the government deciding to go into another retail venture.

When I moved to Canada, I was shocked that the government is responsible for selling booze in Ontario. Monopolies are never good and government monopolies are generally even worse. The choice in most of the government booze shops is poor and the prices are higher than they should.

Now they are getting into the narcotics trade. Which involves setting up distribution channels, staff costs, even more pension liabilities. And all with no market forces to guide the way.

Not to be "that guy", as I agree with a lot of what you've said, but marijuana is not a narcotic.

Used for linguistic purposes
Part of the main issue around marijuana is the extreme level of misinformation. Calling it a narcotic, even for linguistic purposes, only furthers the misinformation. Most governments around the world already have control on real narcotics anyway, so adding marijuana into the mix doesn't make it anything new.
