Hi Guys,

I’m on vacation out here in Mexico, Riveria Maya, was wondering if anybody could recommend a few good cigar shops? I think there is an LCDH fairly close.

Or I can always just buy from the hotel shop, LOL.

i can’t reach the authenticity check from my phone. Someone tell me if they’re even legit?

Here is the info from the authenticity checker.

First one is the results from the Cohiba Siglo IV

Next is the results from the HdM Epic #2

But after looking at the pictures they didn't take care of those cigars.  I would go to the LCDH for price and quality which it sounds like is in Cancun which only an hour away.  Edit to add there is a LCDH here 5ta Avenida entre calles 40 y 42, Centro, 77710 Playa del Carmen, Q.R., Mexico which is very close to you.  Edit again to add website.  http://lacasadelhabanoplayadelcarmen.com/our-stores/

The LCDH in Playa is ok. There’s a shop next Veronica’s massage just north of Constitutions on 5th. Good shop. Owner is a member here.

Don't bury the headline.   Tell me more about Veronica's massage.   Hoping I will really feel like a cigar afterwards.

I would never buy anything priced liked that. I’m surprised they checked out. If you think they look bad you should be happy I didn’t put up a picture of the $80 Monty 2.

I brought plenty of my own stash down with me but figured a good shop around might have something worth picking up.

@madandana do you know the name of the shop by any chance?

Check out the LCDH in Cozumel, it's just a ferry ride away. You might find something interesting although in general it's probably better to bring your own smokes.

Thanks, I did bring my own smokes. I was just looking to possible find some aged/hard to get stock. Plus it’ll get me out of sitting in the sun by the pool for a day.

I am pale enough to make any Englishman green with envy.

I've just come back from Playa del Carmen 3 days ago. Cuban cigar prices are ridiculous, higher than UK. Some of the authenticity is questionable too. I tried some Mexican cigars while I was there and they were pretty darn good. Check out Cigar Factory on 5th Avenue,  there's A few of them on that street, they roll their own and their Mexican puro is surprisingly very nice. Be wary of cigar beetle damaged sticks though, I noticed a few. If you're determined to get Cubans then best go to the LCDH either in Playa or Cozumel (Cozumel is great so defo worth the ferry ride). I did see some Cubans in other shops but like I said the authenticity is questionable so best take you're own sticks with you, thats what i did. Last thing, please don't buy any glass topped fiver boxes of Cohiba torpedoes from the beach vendors!!

Funny you mention the glass top boxes. As I was smoking a CORO last night I had a gentlemen approach me to tell me about the humidor box he was able to buy for only $250 US and my cigar was obviously fake because this vendor told him about all the fake cigars here and my band didn’t match his.

I was smoking a 2007 from an aged sampler purchased from 24:24. Cigar was amazing. Only problem is it’s so humid out here I’m literally using desiccant packs to keep my humidity at 60RH

You're always smoking Fohiba's Ted.

Remember the story I told you about smoking at Jamie's? Russian guy tells me my Cohiba it's fake cause it didn't have hologram label. I'm thinking does he know they made cigars before 2014? LOL I giggle when strangers rip their shirts open to reveal the S on their chest and give away their secret identities just to save me from smoking a fake. So many cigar experts out there masquerading as regular people. It's crazy!
