Buck14 Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Can someone please post a picture of one of these for me?
Randy956 Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Does that travel lighter use Scripto disposable lighters?
Islandboy Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 29 minutes ago, Randy956 said: Does that travel lighter use Scripto disposable lighters? Yes, the top pops off and you slip a disposable lighter in a slot. It comes with one ready to fill.
Fuzz AI Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Only rectangular based disposable lighters will fit. Oval shaped ones like a BIC, will not. I have found that not all disposables that fit, will work properly. Might be a height thing (no, not my height!). When you drop in the insert, you can feel the resistance on the ignition button, but no gas comes out. 1
KnightsAnole Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 These generic lighters work... Impressed with how well the travel lighter works. I’ve had several more expensive lighters that don’t work nearly as well. Worth it for occasions when you don’t want to risk bringing along a nice lighter.
BuzzArd Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 If you need one, @Buck14 PM me. I’ll send you one of mine. 1
mt1 Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 This looks similar to the Soto Pocket Torch (same concept). Where can we order these?

I have two still in the package sitting right here and don’t need one. But thanks. When I posted I was at a cigar bar four bourbons deep and a few of us were discussing these travel cigar lighters but no one had a good picture of one. 1
PapaDisco Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 There are a few generic disposables that will fit in it, but it's a bit particular about just what disposable you use. As Fuzz said, Bics will not work. However it comes with its own 'disposable', sans flint, and you can refill that unit without limit. I take mine apart into three pieces (top, bottom and refillable cartridge) and it goes through security in my computer bag just fine. Once in a hundred times it got pulled by a junior inspector who hadn't gotten the memo and he confiscated it, but every other time it passes with ease.
oliverdst Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Ok, someone has to ask: what about the gas quality? I confess it's not a big deal to me but these lighters probably have the cheapest gas in the world.

My view is that butane is butane is butane--the only variable I have ever found is whether or not they've added the scent to the gas. My experience is that I can't really tell the difference when lighting up a cigar, only when I purposefully try to smell the unburnt butane.

Once it is empty, I purge and refill with Newport butane. 5 hours ago, mt1 said: My view is that butane is butane is butane--the only variable I have ever found is whether or not they've added the scent to the gas. Try sticking camping stove butane in your lighter and see how that works for a while. Guarantee it will clog up after a while.

I use cooking butane (same can as the one I use in my kitchen torch and camping burner) in my lighter and it's fine, but then again I use soldering torch as my cigar lighter....it's consistent and the right size to toast the foot (so yes, I'm cheap but if it ain't broke...).
Fuzz AI Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Well then in that case you wouldn't notice the difference, but we're not talking about soldering torches as cigar lighters in this instance.
JY0 Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Are these FOH lighters available? I do not see them in the store.

Buck14 Posted July 20, 2018 Author Posted July 20, 2018 This thing is absolutely awesome! And pretty damned idiot proof! Can’t believe I just let it sit on my shelf for months without trying it out!
