Don't you mess with my Prominentes vitola!

I think I would try a La Escepcion corona gorda.

I don't think there's a vitola of La Escepcion I wouldn't smoke, but I'll go Franciscos--my all-time favorite vitola.

I was thinking more like a Cajon of 100.  Bandless.  Ready for the new global plain packaging era.

I think they should have done that straight up.  Not sure how they could do it now unless they punted Vigia.  Looking at Robusto's,  a Diplomatico Robusto would be a no brainer.

How about bringing back the 109 format for all remaining DCs?

Less is not more.

Acceptable.  :D

My other option would not be very interesting to me, but I feel like it would be a sure-fire hit: an Hoyo Piramide.

Punch half corona would float for sure. I like a lot of the ideas bouncing around regarding slashing marcas and bringing them back later. I think the linea classico line could be expanded in this way to great effect. Nix Fonseca, sancho panza, la flour, la Gloria, even cuaba. Then bring back the heavy hitters from each retired Marca in a linea classico format ala the partagas and romeo marrvas in tins. Easy way to jack up the price on Fonseca no 1 and bring back la gloria mdo 1,2,3 etc.

So... take them off the market and then start selling them again, but with "Classic" written on them and a higher price tag, and this will turn them into hits?

Most marcas would have success with the Half Corona or a Caprichos based on the great results of the HUHC, MCMC and RyJ PR.

I definitely don't think a re-branding of the nature you suggest would be ideal. You'd be taking brands with marginal popularity and trying to essentially push them into a specialty brand. No one's going to pay that much more for a Fonseca No. 1 or LGC MdO4.

It seems clear they want to keep the Portfolio brands' regular production lineups thin and go after it with the ERs. Fine. All they need to do is add one or two models to the regular lineup. Every marca should have at least 3 long-filler regular production models. I'm even fine with adding vitolas HSA likes. Add an Edmundo or Geniales to Diplomaticos. Add a Genios to SP. Add a Magicos to LGC. Refurbish these brands where needed, e.g. start using the colored LGC band found on the Glorias and Britanicas. Small changes up to and including what they did with QdO. Spruce up boxes. Nice papeletas for SP, Dip, RG. 10 boxes for Dip 2 and SP Beli. Even silly things like yellow ribbons for dress box cigars like Partagas Seleccion Privada. Costs next to nothing but looks great.

A Lancero vitola made In every marca...

I highly doubt we'll ever see a regular production Laguito No. 1, 2 or Especial added to any marca.

It's all ERs. They've embraced them fully. They can do whatever they want, they get at least 60,000 sticks moved and the distributors foot the bill up front and they can get more per stick than they can get for regular production.

It's the present and the immediate future. Not how I like things but HSA has found a model that works for them. Unfortunately, many of us have difficulty sourcing many of them.
