inter4alia Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 I am new to the forum (and somewhat new to cigars), so hopefully the picture I tried to attach to this post actually comes through. I bought a cigar from a new B&M over the weekend and took it home to smoke same day. Once I removed the bands, I noticed that the wrapper (Cameroon if that matters) under the bands was much darker then the rest of the wrapper -- see photo attached. I have never seen this before. Being that I am new to cigars, I am not sure but I got the sense that this cigar was drier than it should have been and that maybe the B&M's storage conditions are not ideal. I figured that might explain the difference in the color under the bands, but I don't have enough experience to know whether that could be the case. Any ideas on what could have caused this?

El Presidente Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 I am guessing wrapper fade due to sunlight or fluorescent light. I haven't seen that extreme before. 1
prodigy Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 I would not buy from that source again. That is a heavily neglected cigar...Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 2

garbandz Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 how was the cigar? was it in a full box or at the bottom? investigate before you walk away from your B&M, it could be an anomaly...….. or, you could need to avoid the place...………..

I think the cigar was certainly on the dry side, but I do not have enough experience to know for sure if the cigar was really bad. I can say that it did not taste as good as I expected, but it was not so bad that I was unable to smoke it. But again, I am new to this. I grabbed the cigar from a somewhat full box. The cigar I grabbed was on top. As I mentioned in my original post, I had some worries about storage from the start. But this is the first time I checked out this B&M and I drove out there so I figured I would go ahead and grab a stick to try. The A/C was not on in the shop, and it should have been given the temp that day. There were no other patrons in the shop while I was there. The humidor cabinets all along the wall did not appear to have good seals on the glass doors -- and with the temp in the shop I suspect the temp inside the cabinets was on the high side. All things considered, I think I am still going to scratch this place from my list. I have several other B&M options in Chicagoland where I've had good experiences. Thanks again to everyone for your input. Hopefully my next post will be much more positive than this one.

Scratch that B&M off my list. They have had history of rumours of dying the wrappers which could mean over time a fading.
