Well done Di it’s a beauty your one up on me ?

Beauty Tuna.

And I may say, great job taming it on that light spinning outfit.

Do you mind me asking what size line / leader was used? Is low diameter braided line used, or standard mono? Flourocarbon leads?

Great fish!

Dobyns Fury Rod/ Daiwa Saltist 3000 reel/20lb braid and 20lb leader.

We use the same outfit for Spotty Mackerel and Threadfin Salmon.

It doesn't put much hurt on a rampant Tuna however.

Congrats, well done!

Dumb question perhaps, but why didn't you take that nice fish with you? Under size for the species?

Expand

Longtail Tuna migrate annually  from New South Wales to Thailand and return back down.  Thai fishermen net them in their thousands and sell them for the equivalent of $2 a kilogram.

Just doing our little bit to see the species survive a little longer.

Congrats Di!  Awesome fish and with that smile looks like you may be hooked on fishing.  B)

And any day fishing beats any day in the office by a long shot.

What an excellent first fish! I started taking my wife out on the boat with me so we could spend some more time together. Now she looks at me and tells me where we are going to be fishing that weekend. It's a great problem to have.
