SigmundChurchill Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 I was going to tag onto Mikem2780’s Toronto post, seeing as how it already got the attention of the Canadians on the board, but I didn’t want to hijack his thread, so I started this one instead. I’m taking the family to Mont Tremblant on Saturday. We will be there for a week. I figured we will ski 4 of those days, and do other activities, like dog sledding, the other days. Any suggestions for restaurants in that area? Also, are there any good places to break away for a cigar around there, or am I relegated to smoking outside? (We are flying into and out of Montreal, so we will likely be eating lunch and dinner there the first day, so Montreal dining suggestions appreciated as well)
Cold Smoke Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Maison Publique in Montreal is a favourite of mine. Shabby chic bistro decor, great beers and awesome food. The "Tasters Menu" is a favourite of the wife and I. They just keep bringing out little taster plates of everything on the menu. It's reasonably priced for the quality (The chef used to work with Jamie Oliver and Oliver if also an investor). Schwartz's deli is a classic stop for a traditional smoked meat sandwich on rye.
treberty Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 I would suggest you drive to the Jean-Talon market on Saturday. Can either find something you like there or go to the Petit Alep, le Pourvoyeur or the Pick Up depanneur (off the beaten path, but great sandwiches). For dinner why don’t you try to get a table at l’Express (an institution) or au Pied de cochon (MartinbPicard’s restaurant)... or Lemeac. Enjoy! 1
SigmundChurchill Posted March 24, 2018 Author Posted March 24, 2018 Thank you. We are leaving tomorrow morning. Some people on a travel forum suggested this to me, “All in the same area you have Place Jacques-Cartier, city hall (Hôtel de Ville), Marché Bonsecours, Place d'Armes and the Basilique Notre-Dame,” They said it was a great area to walk around and I will find many exceptional restaurants just walking around that area. What are your thoughts on that?
canadianbeaver Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 If you can, I think the most wonderful restaurant in Montreal is https://aupieddecochon.ca/en/ You can smoke cigars at the LCDH and a couple of other lounges too. CB 1
