GotaCohiba Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Currently on a cruise that will eventually get me to Havana for a day and got the following news this morning. Departures from the ship will be postponed due to immigration staff checking the status of all passengers Anyone else ever have that happen to them?
PrairieSmoke Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Wow. Depending on the size of the ship that could take a while. I’ve never heard of this though I don’t know anyone who went on a cruise that stopped in Havana. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wertman Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Wow that means running/sprinting to different LCDHs’ and hitting up some hotels for customs

JY0 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 We are cruising to Cuba with Oceana from Miami for 7 days in May, including 3 days in Havana. I look forward to hearing about your experience in Havana via cruise ship. Safe travels.

Based on OPs statement and the fact that when you have just a single day to spend in Cuba, and Cuban officers are going to come on board your cruise ship to check 2000 passengers, who will eventually be allowed to leave the ship at midday only to be told they have to return for embarkation five hours before departure for another thorough personal emigration check..... .... it will leave you a measly 15 min to make a walk around the piers.....

ol'hickory Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 my wife and I were just there in early december aboard royal caribbean. The trip is what got me into CC. Its not that big of deal. We actually had to wait till the other cruise ship left , only one ship at a time in Havana , no other port, and the ship has to be smaller. They did tell us more stops in Cuba via different ports are being planned for 2018/2019. Unless Trump screws it up , plenty of access via cruise. The immigration is not that difficult, all passengers have their visa filled out in advance , cost was $75 per person. You are let off the ship in sections based on excursion time , you go thru immigration , they take the visa , check the passport and stamp it , take a pic and your good to go. We were in Havana a day and half , and came an went thru immigration as we pleased. Just showed them the pasport. no worries gary 1

GotaCohiba Posted January 18, 2018 Author Posted January 18, 2018 Quick update We were just told by the cruise director that individuals on Royal Caribbean tours would be allowed to leave the boat first He said that it may be as late as 10am before we are allowed to disembark Needless to say I’ve been to guest services and they are going to work us in around 8:30 Overall RC has been very helpful through our journey to this point. I’ll provide additional updates after we return to ship tomorrow
