thedame007 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Evening chaps, Apologies if this has been covered before...I was just wondering what your weekly cigar consumption looks like? Over the past year I have varied from 1 a week, to 1 a day. However, i have found that after smoking a cigar 4-5 days on a trot I become flavour blind, and the cigars lose their richness, and taste. If i rest for a day or two, and then light one up, then it's like hitting reset on my senses, and i am welcomed back into the arms of habanos.Have any of you guys recognised cigar fatigue? If so do you also have 'rest' between smokes? I see some of you gents can fire up two cigars in a day...! Though it pains me to do so, I now tend to have 2 'rest' periods in the week (not consecutive) to ensure that my pallet is refreshed, and i am not wasting the luxury of a great stick.I also guess it's good for the bank balance...Patience is a virtue. Apparently. Tsk... 1
99call Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I think cigars should always be a treat, even if you want to treat yourself twice a day. I do find excessive retrohaling can end up spoiling a smoke, but I think it all depends what you're are smoking, as to how much your palette may be affected. By this I mean, I have noticed diminishing enjoyment if I smoke the same cigar back to back, but when in a varied rotation, I never really notice a down side Personally I cant stand post cigar mouth, and generally will brush my teeth and tongue (too much information I know) to ensure any stale feeling/taste is gone. I'm not sure if this has any effect, I definitely wouldn't want to have a Michael Jordan day and chug 6 cigars in a day, all the time having a mouth that feels like death. 1 1
shadowACE Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I wish I had this predicament. Unfortunately, due to the winter months where I live and my general lack of free time I rarely get to smoke even one cigar a week. Usually me a some of the boys will head to the nearest cigar lounge once a month in the winter to get our fix. This usually entails a meal fit for a king and a lot of fine whisky with 3-4 cigars consumed over the course of 6 or so hours. I find if the type, size and strength of cigars are varied enough I don't have any difficulty tasting the different flavours from one cigar to the next. 3

But seriously, thank you for your input, and advice - I do tend to retrohale half of each puff, so this may be having an effect on things! With regard to post-cigar mouth, it’s odd, some cigars leave me with a lovely almost creamy flavour (even after brushing the pearly whites), which I enjoy. Others make me want to eat a very spicy curry . That said, after any smoke, I am guzzling water for hours afterwards. 1
NSXCIGAR Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 If I could, I'd smoke all day every day. That being said, obviously that's not realistic. And I do find I need about 30 mins between cigars to kind of refresh my palate. But I've never had any dead palate issues smoking multiple cigars daily. I also do like to vary the cigars I smoke consecutively. I rarely smoke two of the exact same cigars in a row. If I do, they're smaller like Minutos or Perlas. 2
Buck14 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I hardly ever smoke the same cigar in the same day or even week. I like to mix it up and never had an issue tasting the smoke (excepting the 3-4 days a year when I go crazy and have 5-7 smokes in a day - then my palate does get fatigued). 1
