Football, cigars and beer, 'Tis the season indeed! My first CNY review is of the Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 from the 12 days of Christmas sampler. This was my first JL2 and it did not disappoint, dark cooking chocolate with citrus/orange peel notes, paired with flawless constructions, a perfect draw and crisp burn left little to criticize. Rich flavors paired with superb construction at an affordable price gives me a better understanding of why this seems to be one of the forum favorites and justifies el pres' #1 rating for his best of 2017.

How long should a person typically age these?

This was my first Juan Lopez so I'm certainly far from qualified to answer this question off personal experience, but what I can say is for such a young cigar (Feb 17) it smoked extremely well. I suppose additional time down could smooth out the final third and potentially further develop the flavor notes, then again maybe not. Based off this experience with such a young cigar and from what el pres puts on the 24:24 description, I would say little to no time down needed. Give it a month or two to acclimate to your humidor and then have at it!

Juan Lopez #2 has been the most consistent “good or better” cigar in the CC portfolio in 2017.
