The past couple of weeks, everything I smoke - Boli PC, Monte 4, Punch DC, HUP2 - all tastes the same.

At first, I thought it was an rH issue that was causing everything to taste muddled and charred, but both my cabinet and my desktop are at 62 - 63, but I started dry boxing anyway. Didn't help.

I haven't been sick, my diet hasn't changed.

Maybe smoking outdoors in the humid air is causing it? I haven't noticed this in prior summers.

Or maybe I'm just going through a phase where my palate is off for some reason. I dunno. Anyone else experience something similar?

I have had this experience as well humidity or excess of can sometimes be the culprit, but also you can go through what is commonly known as cigar funk for me it happens occasionally but usually it will pass sometimes it's a patience game hope this helps

It's all the same tobacco. Specific marca profiles are a myth! :fuel::stir:

I know a mod shouldn't lob grenades like that, but I just couldn't resist. :hole:

Yes, I've experienced this too. My theory is that the outside humidity can have a greater effect on our smoking experience than we realise, especially when it's very humid. If it's simply hot weather, be mindful of how much saliva is gathering around the head of the cigar. This can occur without us being conscious of it because the extra humidity in the air can make it just a little bit more harder to draw. Sometimes I've re-clipped the head whilst smoking as it became too moist...(it) improves your smoking experience immediately.

This is wisdom

I've had the "cigar funk" before, as Steve calls it. Tends to happen a couple of times a year particularly around the time of changes of season so I reckon it's probably to do with environmental/weather factors as has been suggested above also.

My experience is, even without being ill, sick, drunk, overfed etc. my ability to taste and smell (same holding for wine e.g.) does come and go in waves, sometimes more sometimes less pronounced. Seems to be some periodical physiological thingy, just as the sensory ability changes diurnally, not just depending on the time of day but also in response to stress levels and your "alimentary" status, etc..

Sounds like I need to give it a rest for a week or two and try a cleaner pairing. Thanks all!

It's happened to me before. Take a couple days off smoking, then eat an apple before having a cigar and pair with sparkling water. You will be surprised how well the apple and mineral water cleanse your palate.

As much as I love it alcohol  (brown liquior in particular )burns your mouth and wrecks your palate. As previously stated alkaline water and apple cleans your palate. Of course after 3-4 drinks they all taste great??
