... for a moment I thought this was another damn 'dry boxing' thread. Thank God it was just something that I have even less interest in... -LOL

Carry on!

Doesn't Mayweather vs. McGregor scream "credibility"?  :D

I truly wish McGregor would get rocked by a punch from Mayweather, only to lapse momentarily into UFC mode and put tombstone kick Mayweather's head.

That's really the only reason to buy this fight, to see if McGregor snaps and uses some MMA tactics.  Unfortunately the chances are very remote, since it was written into the contract that if he does any of that, he loses most of his prize money.  Considering this is only happening so the two fighters can make huge piles of money, it's highly unlikely Conor will do anything to jeopardize that.

this gets better. way more interesting than the fight.

i have not seen the fight so have no opinion on whether it was dodgy or not (but being boxing, one assumes at least some dodginess). i've spoken to mates who were there. some thought pac should have won, some thought either way, some had no problem with the decision.

but now...

at the request of the Philippine government (seriously? a government can now interfere in a sport regarding the decision?), the decision is to be reviewed. anyone know if this has ever happened before? to me, this opens the most massive can of worms. every decision is now up for review. whatever you thought, insane (if anyone could prove fraud, vacate the decision, but otherwise????). this genie is going nowhere his bottle, ever again.

the best bit - the philippino government's request was based on "protecting boxing’s integrity". seriously? barn door, horse over the hills and far away? but even if the review says pac should have won, horn keeps the title.

the WBO prez has stated “The purpose of this review is to be able to give the fans certainty of who was the winner of the bout, even though we do not have the power to reverse the decision of the judges.” how the hell does that work? if the decision comes back that pac should have won, but horn keeps the title, how on earth does that give certainty? does it not do the exact opposite? and how much fun for betting agencies? and punters? who get the lollies? this is boxing at its finest.

and then, the WBO president Francisco Valcarcel, came up with this - “I would be very grateful if the GAB (the philippino govt) can provide any evidence indicating fraud or violation of law". seriously? the prez of the organisation is actively seeking evidence of fraud and criminality in dealing with his own sport/staff/officials/organisation?

i do feel a bit sorry for horn as it cast doubts on his efforts but this is just priceless. other sports come up with tools like tomic and kyrgios, or go on strike for pay, or have salary cap breaches. they don't hold a candle to boxing. you could not make this up.
