Question re: temporary storage conditions

Recommended Posts

I am now storing my cigars around 70F / 65% rh.  I may try lowering rh in the future but for now i have all these 65% boveda bags :P

Anyways.  My central AC will be off all day tomorrow.  Not sure how hot it will get, maybe mid 70s for 8 hours or so.

The question is, which would be the better choice out of these 2 choices:

1)  just leave my cooler where it is

2)  I can move the cooler to a friends place for 9 days where the temp will be around 60F.  Has to be 9 days because he is going on vacation.

Which one will do the least damage?

I dont freeze my cigars, but all of them have been purchased from FOH.  I'm not really worried about beetles.  If it ever happens then i will have to re-think it.

I'm just more concerned about temp changes.

Anyways, if anyone has an opinion,  I thank you!

Rob told this story in which he accidentally left a single stick alone in a box in the backseat of his car for days (weeks?).  Apparently he had forgotten about it. It endured many hot days back there and traversed over many bumpy roadtrips. Finally upon its discovery, he fired it up expecting the worst but it smoked brilliantly.

True story.

... I used to regularly travel around with a box of Punch Coronas in my truck. No baggie, just a box of cigars.

Opinions being what they are, one has not tasted the glory of a what a cigar can really be when he keeps them too wet. MHO...

Your definitely over thinking it.  The cigars are shipped all the way from Cuba to Oz then to where you live. A little time in your cooler shouldn't be too big of a deal
