gusto616 Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Just received 2 boxes of 10 Monte 2s from our awesome host. One is for me & the other for my dear ol' Dad. Both are HP with blue stickers. The difference in the colors are seen below. One is like milk chocolate in hue, the other like bittersweet. They're both gorgeous & smell great. For those who have gone through a lot of this vitola, or anyone who wants to chime in, which would you choose? And why? Lmk!!! And yes, I know I could just do half & half...that isn't the point. Winchester21 Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Both look great. They will lose much of the bittersweet edge with a short rest
Firebender Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Milk for smoke now, bittersweet for laterSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
99call Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Hmmm, As piggy would point out, sometimes a wrapper isn't a promise of anything. I currently have some incredibly pale (almost CORO) Monte 2s and dark 2's in rotation. The darker ones have been a great deal more interesting, with a better transitions and twang. but the pale have been a hell of a lot classier, with regards to creaminess. In conclusion I would always take the darker, as I think with Monte 2s, twang, and the sweet and sour is what your looking for. 3
JohnS Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 Honestly @gusto616, there doesn't seem to be too much of a difference in the wrapper shades between the two boxes of Montecristo No.2. The conventional wisdom on our forum in regards to light and dark wrapper shading on Montecristo No.2's is that darker ones bring out more cocoa and chocolate and lighter ones bring out milk coffee and cream. Remember, however, these statements are generalisations. 2

planetary Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 When it comes to Monty 2, I've had the best luck when the wrappers approach the shade of the band. Just a generalization, though! I'd gladly take either of the boxes shown. All other things being equal, I'd prefer the slightly darker shade, I suppose. 3
