Sydney FOH - State of Origin Game 1

Well, it's that time of year again, State of Origin. NSW Blues vs QLD Morons Maroons.

Where: Green Peppercorn, Civic Hotel

When: Wed 31st May - 6:30/7pm till late (kick-off @ 8pm but probably be a late start)

Cost: Whatever you feel like spending

 

Some of the boys will be having dinner before moving over to the bar to watch the game over drinks and smokes. If you're free, come on over.

there is one condition. you must wear a maroon jersey/shirt/scarf/anything. and no blue colours at all.

after the team we have just picked, even i think nsw should be hot favourites.

no slater? what the hell? perhaps the finest fullback ever to play the game, back and in form and fit? fullback or wing? but no, we go gagai! holmes makes the australian team but not even on the bench for us? granted a tough one but why not slater/boyd fullback and wing, oates. gagai and chambers in the centres. my form is as good as o'neill this year! so if inglis is fit next year, he'll be dumped?

and if JT not fit, as much as i love milford, we will be stuffed. throwing him in as starting five eight in the first game of the series? wow!

miles? he is too old and injured for a legends game, let alone the real thing. lillyman? well, we'll need those 15 metres a game. while jarrod wallace watches from home?

all those who bagged big mal, he is looking pretty good now.

as maroon as i might be (anyone else get to the very first origin?), i really think we'll cop a whomping and we will not recover this series. might win the 3rd as it is hard to win all three.

if anyone wants to know why -

From Game III last year:
In: Will Chambers, Anthony Milford*, Dylan Napa*, Michael Morgan.
Out: Greg Inglis, Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott, Corey Parker.

in other words, a serious step back in every case. i love milford and think he might be one of the game's greats but that does not mean he is an upgrade on JT at this stage.

plus we did not recall slater (insane), apparently did not need the incumbent aussie winger holmes, and still have myles and lillyman in the side. they have been stars for us but there comes a time...

As a native of the Old Country, I don't have a dog in this fight but it might make for a bit of a positive change to watching the Tahs get slaughtered every bloody week....
