Hi, I have two boxes of RAS now: RASS BAM MAR 16 & RASS SOM MAR 16. But if you look at the pictures, the boxes and labels look quite different, what gives? Both smoke great, the darker one from BAM is much better though. Both verified by Habanos authenticity check and all the holograms and watermarks are there.

Can you post a closeup pic of the warranty seal sticker on the box on the right?  Doing a quick glance at the box, that sure doesn't look good...  The side font/words on the box are totally wrong, the Hecho en Cuba stamp is off... not good.  PM sent to ya

Bar code authenticity check is utterly meaningless.  It's easy to duplicate numbers or simply look them up.  They're sequentially applied anyway, so one valid number for a box will give counterfeiters many valid numbers to apply.  The bar code isn't really intended for our benefit anyway.

I can say with a lot of confidence you did not get the BAM MAR 16 box on the right from our hosts.  Or any other reliable shop.

The BAM code was already used from 2012-2013 and I believe some 2014, but that code should be long retired by 2016. Big red flag, not to mention the funky font it has.

I was talking about the BAM box looking fugazzi and asking about that warranty seal.  As I said in the PM, all things add up to totally fugazzi, no question about it.  Sorry man.

Two things, the box with the BAM code.

If it came from Cuba this year, it should have a health warning with the word MINSAP prominent on it (MINSAP The Cuban Ministry of health "Ministerio de Salud Publica").

Not having that on the front of the box is a big warning sign for me. I haven't seen a real box from Cuba without that sticker in years.

Also, as others have said, the font used for BAM. I have never seen that font on a real box before. I have seen similar fonts on fake boxes.

I'm sorry to say that I'd be 99% sure it's fake.

that BAM Mar 16 box does raise an alarm in my mind.  nothing like what i have seen before with regards to font style.
BAM is a valid code though, as mentioned above.

interesting that you taste these to be better... question is how much better  :wink2:

Thanks, everyone. it looks like I have a fake :(

The cigar tastes significantly better. SOM box was underwhelming for me, but it's getting better. BAM box is a true gem - exactly how RASS is supposed to taste, power, complexity, pepper, coffee - all there. These might have come "directly" from the factory, so I have no clue what's going on.

Yes that font as the other have said is off for sure. Haven't seen that one before.
Here is a photo of the minisap sticker. However, I am not sure if it is on every single box? Is it just the ones actually purchased in Cuba? 75494305a86c2d697ee74f4ca2f80961.jpg

I'd say the BAM box is a fake, no doubt about it.  Fonts are wrong, the box is physically bigger, and the cigars aren't uniform.  Look at the irregularity of the cigar on the right vs. on the left, too. Trust your eyes, not your palate ;)
