The Glory of a GOOD Choix

Recommended Posts

Just finished my last CS from a box of SAG May 09.  For all the hate I see out there for this cigar, I can't get it.  Unbelievable subtle flavors of citrus with a light dusting of chocolate and vanilla.  Truly great.  May this one never go the way I'm afraid of.

Good rubusto. I've enjoyed the few I've had. Very approachable, easy choice when in looking for something a little different to my much loved upmann connie1. Occasionally thought about a box but timing just has not coincided when when they've come up on the forum.

Speaking for the box in my humidor, the flavors are TOO subtle. I double and triple puff these cigars trying to get flavor from them, like smoking air. Now if you like a very mild cigar, they might be for you. I prefer cigars with more oomph, like RASS, PSD4, BRC. Maybe I just received a dud box, but at that price point I will never buy these again. One box of mild dog rockets has convinced me Choix supreme doesn't belong in my humidor cabinet.

I agree with the OP. A fantastic change of pace cigar with its subtle complexities and finesse. I found that it took me awhile, and several singles to really appreciate them. I too prefer the harder hitting fuller cigars from Partagas and Bolivar, etc... And now that I've been smoking for many years, I've come to appreciate the more easy going marcas like Erdm and PL, for example.

I had been gifted a couple a while back and wasn't smoking the bc I was thinking too mild for me. Not only did I enjoy them but both had my mouth watering with each puff.  Would love to pick up some more if they always have that effect. ?

They just need that time down to allow the flavour nuances to develop.

Too young and they can be mild and "grassy". Give a good box some nap time and they move from that awkward cygnet  into a beautiful swan.
