Winchester21 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 During the last 4 months I have purchased several boxes of Bolivars Belicoso Fino and robustos. Compared to the Cohiba, HDM, Monte and H uppman the Bolivars have been the stars of the show. Great construction and beautiful dark oily wrappers I have a box of robustos on order here from last week Can't wait to try them 2

mwaller Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 In my experience, Bolivar has some of the most distinctive-tasting sticks. I haven't been enamored of the royal corona, but the Belicoso Fino, Coronas Junior, and Tubos 2 have been great.
RazorbackFan Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 The BCJs, BPCs and BRCs are all hits in my book. 1

The stars of the show are the several boxes he already has. The Robustos he has on order are the ones he can't wait to try. One cannot smoke what he does not have. 3

Keep loading up on those, and cut back on the others. It's wonderful to know what you like and to find good match for what you taste buds crave. Enjoy them for as long as you possibly can. I've had a love hate relationship with Bolivar. I love the vitolas from the late 90s and early 2000s, but the Bolivars of the last 3 or 4 years have been far less satisfying. I'm not quite sure if it is just me, or whether the cigars have changed. 1
NSXCIGAR Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 When Bolivar is smoking well, they are right up there in terms of how great a CC can be. It's not a brand that appeals to everyone, but those who like it find there is no substitute. I'd strongly recommend the Tubos 1/2/3 and 15/16 Coronas Gigantes if you can find any. The Coronas Junior are small but worth checking out as well. I'd skip the PC right now and spend the extra on the Tubos No 2. 1

Dmpotocek Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Picked up a gorgeous box of BBF here back in February. I'm just now cracking into them and they are quite good, but I can tell that they have some serious legs on them and can't wait to see what they will be like in a few years. BuzzArd Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 The tubos No3 are in my sights. If they show their snouts over a 24:24 horizon I'll bag my limit.

Best Bolivar in current production, IMHO. The size just kills me though. Placeras is a very small vitola. But what a firecracker of a cigar. A tad stronger and spicier than the No 1 & 2. Closest thing to old school Bolivar you can get.

Spend a lot of my time in my car on 45-60min drives at that particular vitola just fits right in there. Sometimes theres a cigar, and I'm talking about the Boli Tubos No3 here, Sometimes there's a cigar, and, well... It's the cigar for that time and place. It just fits right in there. And that's the Boli tubos No 3. 1
RDBM Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 A good BBF is hard to beat, its right up there with RASS and D4.
beparrish Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Like others who have posted, I'm a big Bolivar fan. My favs are the BBFs, #1s and BPC. Just picked up a box of the BCG, and liked the first one I smoked. Will let them set for a bit before digging into the box again. I'll probably cry when I smoke my last #1 and am not able to buy more. The one that doesn't do it for me are the BRCs. Something's off with the blend - just seems a bit too harsh for my tastes.
MPfit Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Def stick with the 24:24. I purchased 2 boxes blind from our hosts cart website. 1 box is great, the other is less than mediocre. Big discrepancies between boxes with same box codes- so it's always nice to have someone inspect quality before you buy.
Ethernut Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Pound for pound, all things being equal, I'll take a Boli of any kind over the glam-sticks any day.. 2

No I have an open box of belicoso fino and corona espicales(I think). Typically the Bolivars are mid pack with questionable wrapper - medium color. But lately they have been kicking ass IMHO I expect great things from last weeks purchase

I have another box coming hoping for the same. I ALWAYS go for the 24.24 first. I took a chance on these because I love the size

MPfit Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 With other brands not so much but the darker boli wrappers seem to produce the more cocoa notes I look for in bolivars. My favorite marque is hoyo and the wrapper color is less important. But as with RyJ; I tend to find the rosado wrapper yields more true cherry flavors while the darker wrapper of bolivar yields more cocoa. That natural looking wrapper I posted isn't a bad cigar just much less of the cocoa and more earthy- slightly more spice.
