Hello one and all.

I'm off to Geneva with my missus in May. Here is the head scratcher.    5 days of which I will probably find half a day to stake out the usual spots for stock, and half a day to get around and pick up the goods.  Our combined allowance will be 100 cigars. My question is this, what would be your targets, and how would you make up the 100.  I hear the stock is pretty well picked over, and not what it used to be.

My desired list would be

1 x 25 Party Serie De Connie 1

1 x 25 SLR Lonsdales

1x  25 Upmann Monarchs tubed

25 singles of what ever interesting stuff I can get my hands on

What would be your list?

My only advice is to keep an open mind and look at everything. Personally I'd be looking for old stock. Look at the sticks you mentioned but also look around and behind stuff. You may fine a nice surprise.

I'd probably look for regionals that you can't get through our host, or something with a bit of age on it.

Yeah, Hoping to see if some regionals have been broken up in the singles, and make up a 25 from them.   Getting myself ready for disapointment though, as I hear the aged stock is not what it once was. Holding out hope for some 2001 Monarchs. If it doesn't work out, I guess the next holiday will be Andorra, or Beirut.

I'm not to hot with internet lingo, are you suggesting there was zero chance of such finds? I'd be interested to here what you think is the state of their current line up?

I don't believe Partagas SdC No.1 can be found in Geneva… The SLR lonsdales, yes probably.

As for the Monarch A/T I wouldn't touch the 99 and 2000's, and be careful with the 2001's…

This is all great advice many thanks to all.  With regards to the 2001 Monarchs.  Is this soley for plugging issues?. Every non tubed 2001 box i've seen just look sooooooo beautiful. Makes you wonder how new rollers could of got one aspect to right, and one aspect so wrong

IJS= I'm Just Sayin. Geneva has some really good retailers and great prices but many do not deliver to the US. Zee and I chat frequently offline and I am pretty sure we know each other's shopping lists. Hahaha! Z is a great guy :)

Smallclub hit it on the head with cigars you are most likely to see. If it were me, I would make sure I was thoroughly enjoying the rare opportunty (for Americans) perusing some supremely aged cigars that yoy can personally inspect. Enjoy the ride :)

Yeah,

Hopefully my wish list isn't too fanciful. Z sent over some great info... yep top bloke.

to be honest as long as I come away with some Monarchs that aren't plugged I'll be happy.

Hopefully they have something similar to these vintage baggies lying around

There's Gerard's, but prices are not so hot.  If you have the time, go to one of the Portmann shops.  Is Raffi cigars still open in Geneva?

My places to hit are Gesto's has they were the first people I was buying cigars from at 19 which is nearly 20yrs ago now, so it would be really nice to actually visit them.  Gerards, as I'm intrigued about the stock, but I've been a bit put off by some of the stuff I've heard,

Riene's is the one that holds most intrigue for me, as it looks like a nice shop, with great heritage, but seldom gets mentioned. Hopefully its got some sleeping beauty's

Will visit Davidoff's too
