You suck. I'm not going to like you. I despise you... double banded dollar gobbler.

There are some cracker large ring guage cigars, but I don't think I could ever find myself regularly smoking them. I really enjoyed a Magnum 56 single I had last year, which was enough of a prompt to buy a box, despite the price. Having said that I don't think I would ever find myself smoking them regularly even if I could afford it. I find that the larger RG doesn't correlate with increased flavor or complexity and the size is not the most enjoyable or comfortable. Those Mag 56's are stellar cigars though!

The RG would be a whole lot more acceptable to me if it wasn't the case that half of the sticks are woefully underfilled.

Yes, that to me is an even bigger problem then the actual ring gauge, TBH - that is if they keep it to 56, above that it really is too much.

And so yesterday ken and I reviewed another large gauge release.  We started the conversation by decrying it's ungainly feel, the unstoppable march of radiator hose releases... the stupid pricing...the lost classics.....the inhumanity of it all. Mind you Ken was in fine form...the review coming at the same time as the Redskins (offseason)  and Arsenal (annual) implosion

But while we shined our shoes (....for the sake of the exercise, assume Ken wore some) in order to lay in a thunderous withering boot at this vile manifestation of marketing madness......something went wrong.

You see...the cigar was good. The cigar was very very good.

Damn you Habanos....it was the Magnum 56 all over again!

15 minutes into the review and we forgot all about the size as the flavours were if not quite mesmerising, not far off.

large gauge cigars still don't figure in my personal rotation. When I open my "smoking through humidor" it is a beautiful sea of sub 50 magnificence. I chose not to look at the interlopers who have taken up residence. A few Mag 56 here, a few R&J Wides there....+ others :lookaround:.  I lie to myself wondering how they arrived there. Hypocrite!  You put them there because they deliver come cracking flavours! You just don't want to admit that you enjoy them!

I won't ever be a large gauge bloke but I will hand it to Habanos/Tabacuba.  Love them, hate them or be indifferent to them.....they are pumping out some absolute cracking 52+ gauge cigars. Credit where it is due.

Even a blind hog roots up a truffle on occasion! Enjoy the moment. I will take experience over luck. I am not that lucky!!!

Recently I had to cut back on how much I smoke so these large LE releases give me more bang for the two cigars a month I can smoke now as opposed to the 3-4 per week I was at. I for one like them as well as the format.

Count me among those who are guessing this refers to the Monte 80th :)

Having tried it, liked it, and the fact that it fits all the clues given in Rob's enigmatic post... I look forward to the review/reveal!

They already reviewed the Monty 80th.  My money is on the Trinidad Topes.

Part of the dislike for the tobacco tampons, no matter how good, is that I fear a limited supply of Cuban tobacco will end up in them, rather than in old favorites . With an increased price tag, of course. And like with any item, consumers purchasing them sends a signal - "Make more like this !"

I absolutely loved the few Magnum 56's I've smoked, and the Connossieur A proved to be magnificent as well.  They may be producing some great large ring gauge stuff, but you'd hope so when every new stick they release is a large ring gauge.

The Connie A is such a superb cigar at a 52 RG. I'm wondering what the Connie B will be like fattening up to a 54 RG. I am just so tired of all these huge, uncomfortable, and cumbersome new releases. I'm sure there are many people who would flock to a new release of a LGC 42 or under.

Ok, I'm officially lost...   What am I missing?

Nothing - he didn't say what they were smoking and we won't know until the review comes out.
