Cuba Documentary series on Netflix

I just came across this last night, although it has a production date of 2015.

"The Cuba Libre Story" on Netflix.

Eight - 1 hour episodes starting from Columbus landing up until 2015, focusing mostly on the time from the Spanish-American War up until the end of the 20th century.

I'm halfway through episode 2 and it's very good so far.

For anyone interested in Cuba, it could be nice viewing for the Christmas break.

Have watched the series it is very good.

I'm halfway through this. I think it's fairly well done so far, and considering the number of years its covering, has done a decent job with the political complexities. In other words, the bias has been minimized and it has focused on geographical and historical realities, as well as the bigger than life personalities involved.

My wife was just telling me about this series last week. She watches Net Flix a lot on here I-PAD when I hog the T.V. I  need to watch this, thanks for the reminder.

Just found  this Free on Amazon Prime...anyone see it?

Very cool so far IMHO. Love the look inside "London's" cigar shops. Also some "ok" education on leaves etc along with some old time Cuban farmers.

23 minutes in and great history...lots of footage that must be from before 2007.

Watched the 1st 5 episodes thus far and was pretty shocked to see NO mention of any cigars at the onset. They ONLY talked about Sugar. Understood sugar brought in millions of dollars, but so did their tobacco. I mean NO mention at all during the early segments of what Cuba was producing...Very strange they left out all mention of Cuba's tobacco except episode 1 where it talks about Spain bringing some tobacco back...I understand later episodes will talk about cigars, but presently it was all about their sugar production when they talk about Cuba's history.  Very strange.

This is a gem with some amazing historical footage.  I'd encourage anyone with Amazon Prime to check this out asap.  The Amazon date of 2007 has to be wrong.  All of the footage is much older and the narrator discusses the Davidoff/Cuba breakup in future tense, as if it's known but hasn't become effective.  That probably dates this at 1989-90'ish right?
