jwr0201 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 The avaition world lost one of the greatest pilots known to mankind. A true pioneer and gentleman.
PigFish Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Watched him at many an airshow. Fantastic pilot! Watching him fly single engine in a Shrike Commander was always a treat. He was a true pioneer of aviation. I understand he flew a chase plane when Yeager broke the sound barrier...! Heady days, for certain. RIP... Bob, you stoked a love of airplanes that I carry to this day.
luv2fly Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 RIP Bob. One of my heroes from the beginning. One of the best pilots I ever saw.
Duxnutz Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Always thought he was just one of those General Aviation nutters that kick about but actually read up on him today. Quite impressive. Another from the 'old skool' has bit the dust.... Blue skies and Tailwinds.
topdiesel Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 RIP I bet you the grand-kids never got tired of his stories. A true example of someone who lived life in the fast lane and lived life to its fullest. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/26/us/bob-hoover-dead.html?_r=0
