Popular Post Hurltim Posted October 21, 2016 Popular Post Posted October 21, 2016 I received this stick from a crazy guy named @SloppyJ. Thanks a bunch Broham!!! So, I normally make fun of people who anthropomorphize things or concepts, but today I am guilty as charged. This cigar had character and gave 110% effort! Aroma at Cold: Nice sweet, barnyard tobacco aroma. Cold Draw: Sweet tobacco and a nice, easy draw. 1st 3rd: Body was about a quarter to medium thirty. Solid dried cherry tones with a hint of milk chocolate. Very smooth. Nice, viscous chewy smoke with a hint of nut. Bourbon comes to mind... The flavors intensify, particularly the cherry...tastes like a bourbon-soaked morello cherry. Damn this is good! The cherry bounces between sweet and tangy with the sweet hanging forward on the tongue. Burn is gorgeous! Ch..Ch..Ch..Cherry Bomb!!! 2nd third: I realize I am partially retrohaling this whole cigar so far. Body continues to inch toward medium. The finish is starting to pick up a faint, sweet cherry character. Awsome! The milk chocolate makes cameos as the cigar progresses and just a splash of white pepper. Black coffee and leather are moving in forcing the cherry and chocolate to the background...temporarily. They must be off stage having a Manhattan. Then out of nowhere...roasted poblano pepper. WTF? No mistaking that flavor. I cook a ton of authentic mexican food. It's out of place here but an awesome flavor nonetheless. Final 3rd: Oooh... Espresso, cocoa, a bit of cream and a decidedly tangy cherry. A bit of sea salt and floral round out the final third. Then I notice a wrapper blowout. Not sure what happened but I nurse it through the blowout and this cigar keeps delivering stellar flavors. Amazing! I am almost done with her and then the wrapper splits. Probably from me gnawing on it. Lol! This cigar shrugs it off and keeps delivering that espresso, sour cherry and cocoa to the very end. It never got bitter. Truly an amazing smoke. It was a little adhd with the flavors but its a solid 92- 93 in my book. It tastes to me to be perhaps the perfect accompaniment to a well-made Manhattan. TheMonk Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Nicely done, mate! Not a favorite of mine, but you seemed to have enjoyed that one very much. 1
Sean3 Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Dammit Hurltim, quit using ginormous words, it just confuses me! Lol. Great review, made my mouth water. 1
BEVOSREVENGE Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Awesome review and a great Friday night read as I puff away. My tastebuds thank you, as well, because I just got a box of these in today from the friendly postal service. ????? 1
SloppyJ Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 That sucker looks familiar. Great review man. So glad you enjoyed it. 1
Bohn007 Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Great review, I have a 2010 box that has been sleeping untouched. Might have to pull a stick out and see how it compares.
subport Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Thanks for the review man. Last year in November or December I did a comparison myself. All the RyJ churchill variations were involved. Hate to say that but I preferred taste wise the wide ch the most and least the size of it. Smoked a dozen since. Not my rg preference but good cigars. 2
TheMonk Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Oh but I personally love the size, I love DCs, I've just found the current Churchill's I've smoked to be pretty flavorless, specially when compared to Lusis or Sir Winnies.
Danimalia Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Great review. Everyone seems to find this a top notch smoke. I think I might buy myself a tenner next weekend. Not my preferred ring gauge, but certainly acceptable in light of all the love this stock gets. I imagine the thickness plays a role in the complexity.
