Rass Circa 2008

got a pack of ten of these in jan 2009, so probably from a 2008 box.

construction. perfect! well packed, looks like an excellent smoke coming up!

cold draw:
draw is excellent. the draw at cold reveals some delicate mushroom and earthy flavors.

1st third:

right off the start, its very rich and earthy and soon develops into more of a buttery mushroom note. don't get that everyday! that lasts for maybe 5 or 6 puffs and then turns into a rich milky note...getting creamy now..its really nice. and then it gets even better at the end of the 1st third with that stewed fruit note mixed in...

2nd third

burn still good, lots of smoke, medium bodied and ash still holding. this is where the flavors turn a bit flat after that beautiful start. just earthy notes for a while but then picks up again with that stewed fruit and its richer and deeper in body...now getting towards medium full at the end of the 2nd third...

final third:

flavors remain the same until almost the end where buttery notes come in the mix. very nice! now getting full and it was time to put it down. really enjoyed the mix of flavors in this one. A well balanced cigar all the way through.

Score 91\100

time 65min

Never had a RASS that old as they have always struck me as a cigar that peaks at a younger age. What do you think after smoking it?

Nice review....

RASS is one that holds up quite well over time, especially those from 20+ years ago. Very tempted on a box currently up from 1997 but price is beyond my pain point....

Very true. They can sometimes be a bit harsh when fresh, but they tend to age beautifully.
