The new end table Avallo gets here next week. Curious if any of you guys have experience with it. My biggest problem currently is keeping humidity down in my storage areas. Currently trying damprid and it's doing ok lowering RH by about 4%.  The accumonitor says it lowers RH as well so I'm curious how well it works.

I have a Staebell cabinet with temperature and humidity control, and really like the cabinet.  But, unless I'm missing something obvious, a jar of water with a fan and a wick (which is how all these humidifiers basically work) can not lower humidity.  I have bags of beads in my Staebell that add a little RH 'ballast' to the system.  Ambient RH here in the Pacific Northwest gets pretty high in the late fall, just before we turn the heat on for the winter (which drops the ambient RH like a rock).

But again, to your point, I don't think the Accumonitor system will lower humidity.  Someone please correct me if I'm all wet.  Heh, RH.....wet.....oh, never mind.....;-)

Exactly as said above... there is no way that an active humidity system like the Accumonitor can reduce humidity... it's simply a container of water that gets pumped into the humidor by a misting fan.  If you don't have some already, get yourself some quality humidity beads and put them inside your humidor dry.  They will absorb the humidity and help stabilize the Rh over time.  Once your Rh is where you want it, then help maintain it by your beads... watering them when needed, or keeping them dry.

Sounds like I'm getting a couple pounds of beads

Some people go cheap and buy kitty litter, but I'm not about to start that debate...

Hi, I have an Avallo 2000 temp controlled currently and previously had a 1200.

As said above the accumonitor does not pull humidity out,  however I have had great luck with keeping a very steady humidity in both units. They are very well made.

Just like any humidor a little trial and error and you will figure out what works for you.

Congrats on a great purchase.

@Erm310mceI have a 1200 coming. How did it run for you? I'm guessing well since you got another Avallo. Is the 25-30 stated box storage a doable number or a stretch. Thanks gents

The 1200 was a fantastic unit. I only upgraded to the 2000 for the larger size and temp control.

Solid unit and held humidity well. You will be pleased.

I had some issues with my temp system on my 2000 and Matthew was fantastic, he was quick to respond , knowledgeable and stayed with the issue until it was completely solved.

I think you will be very pleased.

i can't remember exactly how many boxes I was able to fit, I'll try to find some old photos to get a better feel but I think it's safe to say 22-25 count for boxes.

You should come on down to Banks and have a smoke with me. The singles drawer of my new Stabell end table is starting to get a little crowded.
On topic, you are right about the RH in the Pacific NW. Running the heater has dropped the ambient humidity by 5% in my house.

Sounds like a plan to me, my friend.  I might have a stick or two to throw on the fire as well....;-)

Thanks for the feedback

@Mattb82

Matt, I found a photo of my old Avallo and now that I see it, I think I managed to cram in around 29-30 boxes.....4 boxes in the singles tray.

Problem is that it'll make you cigars smell like cat piss...

Bad news for us living outside USA. I asked the shipping fee of Avallo humidor to Europe.

Thank you for your interest in our humidors. I hate to say that we only ship inside the US. Freight is so expensive in dealing with any type of export just makes it so complicated. I'm sorry we couldn't do business and I hope you can find a good humidor to store your cigars.
