After a very good No. 2 the other day, I decided to give the Monte Double Edmundo a try.  It was a single, so no code, purchased this summer.  I'll keep this review short as there is no need to go into great detail...this was essentially a Monte No. 2, but a little fuller in body, and a little more flavor.  Typical Monte chocolate, coffee, and some woodiness.  It started with some chocolate and as I smoked, coffee showed up about halfway through the first third, along with some woodiness.  From there, the flavors picked up, but did not change much.  Not much complexity, but plenty of chocolate and coffee.  Another very good cigar, just short of being a "cracker".  Some aging would probably add some complexity.  So, Monte wh*#es, what other vitolas are smoking well?  which one is the real chocolate bomb?  Cheers.

Great short review. Keep them coming. I've been enjoying your commentary in general. Good stuff.

Good stuff! I've gotten the most chocolate in Monte from the Especial#2 and the Petit Edmundo. Although by far my favourite Monte is the #3

Good info Captain, thanks.

Cool review. I haven't had the Double E, but I do enjoy some Petit Es (and have a 10er coming in the mail).

I keep hearing the #5s are chocolate bombs. The #1 I had earlier in the week had some chocolate notes, but it was more cafe mocha than full on chocolate bomb.

I couldn't really answer your question, as the DE has been a really flavorless cigar for me - never smoked one I enjoyed the slightest.

Sorry to hear that, sometimes a vitola just never agree with our palates, perhaps that is the case.

Could very well be, although I know quite a few people that would agree with me. Still, as with most things, YMMV!

I had horrible luck with edmundos and double edmundos for years until a string came out from our host of '14 and '15's that were out of site.   They really benefited from those oily dark wrappers and have been fantastic.  Someone did a thread of the edmundos with the same month/code I got that were Fantastic.  Sadly they were so good I only have a box of each left and soon to be into those.

Hard to stay out of 'em when they're that good!

I think the Double Ed might be my favorite.  First out of a recent box was very good plus the size is perfect.

I agree. It's an excellent size. It's a format I reach for often when I'm buying NCs at my local B&M.

Haha! That's funny...I do the same. Toro size...but in reality a Toro is a corona gorda although the usual corona gorda size is a little small for my choice.

Yeah, I definitely consider the toro to be a member of the corona family. Similar length to ring ratios. Likewise, I've always considered Churchills to be related to Lonsdales, but that might just be me

Although I hear the Edmundos are smoking nicely as well.  A little short but might be worth picking some up.
