Looking for a splurge  box.  Never had either one of these and am considering them as candidates. I've read mixed reviews--including those posted here in the past--and seen everything from "one of my desert island cigars" to "no way worth the coin".  Among those of you who know either or both I'd appreciate your thoughts, especially if you've had either one recently. "Neither" remains an option in the value equation.  Thanks in advance!

Sabrosos. Had one recently that was delightful.

Peanut........,Sabrosos

Stonefruit.....Pacificos

Work out which profile appeals more to your palate and go with that one.

I'm running out of both, and El Pres' summary is spot on.  I also find the Sabrosos sweet if you smoke them slow.

Can you guys compare those two cigars to the Punch Punch and the Regios. PP has peanut and Regios has stone fruit, imo. Do the above cigars mirror them or are more pronounced flavors?

Neither, go with the punch LE 2013. The best LE ever.  I am a regional whore, and the Sabrosos did not wow me.  The Pacificos is a good honest cigar, but idk if its worth the extra coin.

Or, Punch Punch 50 cab.  Cabs are special too.

Also, if you're dead set on a regional, encantos is your stick.

That's exactly what I was thinking too. One of my favorite regionals I've tried. Not sure they're available anywhere now though. I bought the last box from another vendor just a few months ago. Rob keeps saying that he won't be seeing anymore of them most likely.

The Pacificos box I'm working thru still hasn't opened up, so I'd say Sabrosos, lots more going on there. I'd take the JL #4 over both of them!

^^^Ditto...

Thread jack!

Smoked another SLR Pacificos on the weekend, and noticing a worrying trend - tremendous stick the first 2/3rd's, then falling over itself into muted notes and bitterness that final third. This was a standout box during 2015, every example then was stellar! By comparison, the handful of examples this year have followed the pattern as stated above, moving into crap that final third. Hopefully this is just start of a sick period and needing some sleep only.  Storage conditions unchanged. Anyone else noticing this ?

Dimmers,

Unfortunately I might agree. Earlier in this thread, I mentioned how great a few Pacificos had been for me. The couple since have been very solid, but lacked that step up to the next tier and became muted. Perhaps (hoping) they were poorer examples...

However, I definitely noticed this in a JL4 the other night. Was a really good, not great, cigar until the last third where it lost its way. Gave up on it soon after. That being said, it was a bit on the ROTT side, so it could just have been out of form.

I have a fair bit of time off coming up and was planning on doing a Sabroso v Pacifico v JL4 lineup to put my own personal thoughts to rest. Will let you know how it goes

Cheers big fella. Scared to hear might be JL#4 as well, as also love this stick. Re Pacificos, yeah could be down to dud examples, but checked my notes and same occurred for each of the last 4 sampled this year. yikes! Might dry box both Pacificos+JL#4 soon to see if any variation, though Im sure this is not because they are too wet.

Also look forward to your Sabroso v Pacifico v JL4 deathmatch! Never picked up a cab of Sabroso at the time, though sorely tempted. However ive a lonely single somewhere in the humi that I need to find and burn.
