gr8eman Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Smoked a Cohiba Esplendido and it was the only CC that I ever smoked that the ash fell off just like a cigarette. Brilliant cigar (92-93), construction, wrapper was spot on. Anyone know why this happened?
CaptainQuintero Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 I would assume it was bunched on the loose side but it doesn't always follow as I've had short filler cigars that hold onto their ash for two inches. Possibly the leaves were on the thin side so had less structural integrity than normal? 1
gr8eman Posted June 27, 2016 Author Posted June 27, 2016 Yes...the wrapper seemed thin...so the binder and filler was as well?
demer Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 i think I have heard that could be an RH thing but I'm probably completely wrong.

The binder is what holds everything together, if it's thin then I'd think it would leave less to hold the filler when burnt. There's probably a few reasons why but that's my first thought
LGC Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Would have to see pics of the ash. As was stated, possibly underfilled... extremely common
TomF Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 If it was a brilliant 92-93 cigar why even worry about it? That happens sometimes. If the cigar had tasted like crap you might have to think about investigating further, but if it's good it's good, right...?
Andy04 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Loose ash may be a result of the cigar losing humidity and drying out somewhere between when it was rolled and when you smoked it. It may have been at perfect RH when you purchased or smoked it, but impossible to know the entire supply chain.
