Ken Gargett Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 since the glorious cooper-inspired super title, it has been a non-stop farce. leave aside the general administration (when some of your longest term ticketholders and supporters are suing you, and the rest think you are about as intelligent as coral with the integrity of a centipede, you should twig that all is not well), we installed an incompetent as coach. and then extended him. we have lost so many top line players that it is a wonder we can field a team. so after the monumental disaster of the coach who couldn't, we could not decide so we put in two coaches. needless to say, we have not raced up the table. we still have no idea who will coach us next year - always a plus when trying to attract young players. but now... if you had to give an award for best player and most promising player, then liam gill and andrew ready would be the winners. both are young. both want to be reds. both are the exact style of players we could build a long and wonderful future on. so, we lose liam gill to france because we would not pay enough. today, we announce the signing of george smith. no question he was one of our greatest ever flankers. a two year deal. he won't come cheap. and his position? that same spot where gill plays. would it not have been better to pay gill? morons! but hey, smith will be nearly 40 by the time his contract finishes. who wouldn't want to pay the pension for a 40 year old rather than pay an extremely talented young kid. god, i hate the reds admin so much. but we have a track record. andrew ready. this kid will be a wallaby for years. sure, still very young but has been one of our best all year. so instead of supporting him, we sign an ageing hooker, granted still playing well but how long will that continue? to be fair, moore will only be 37 or 38 at the end of his career here. by which time, ready will almost certainly have buggered off to somewhere that appreciates him and be playing against us while we desperately search for a replacement. i can't express how angry the qld reds admin makes me. not to forget, it was moore who abandoned the reds the first chance he got years ago. so we'll fork out massive bucks for his pension as well. i wonder if old rugby players hold annual, 'we ripped off the reds' lunches? and then there is the speedbump called leroy houston. a truly awful player (could he really have improved that much?). we got rid of him once. but no, let's bring him back. if you were a young rugby player, would you even bother talking to these imbeciles. just save yourself the time and go anywhere else. i am waiting for the announcement that we have thrown ella a pair of boots and a tub of money. i utterly despair.
David88 Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 It could be worse, the money Wasps saved by releasing Smith was spent on Kurtley Beale!
PapaDisco Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 lol . . . I thought this was going to be a thread about wine , , ,

David88 Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Just now, Ken Gargett said: yes, fair point. A crocked Beale at that! Although I'm sure Danny Cipriani will show him the sights and help keep him on the straight and narrow...
Dimmers Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 dont worry Ken, Quade's coming back and will not doubt fix everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JohnS Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Ken, the insanity will only stop when you show up at a Queensland Reds home game at Suncorp Stadium again!

El Presidente Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 He wasn't. But he is as committed to his statements as a politician 1
Ken Gargett Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 ps - what is now really pissing me off is that the officials are all claiming they are responsible for one of the great coups in rugby. the fans meanwhile, are all talking dad's army.
El Presidente Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Gill will be back in 2018. Maybe 2017. Smith is a nice stop gap. Not anywhere near the level of exellence of Gill. However the Reds don't deserve him.

However the Reds don't deserve him. just watch our bunch of muppets stuff it up and gill end up with the rebels or even worse, the filth from the south. it is a bit like politicians - you get what you deserve. which means on both counts, we were really awful people last life.
