Stogieninja Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Good morning gents! My daughter was born in November 2007, and I have a box of Por Larranaga Robustos from her birth month that I plan on smoking one a year from. However, I'm wondering if these are going to go flat over time. Sancho Panza Belicosos or ERDM CSs are currently available from the same month/year; which of the three boxes do you think will age best over time? Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to keep more than one box. Thanks in advance!
garbandz Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Buy both and send them to me,happy to keep them for you and send a couple out each B-day........... should take her into her 60s.............
NSXCIGAR Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I only smoked a few SPs in that period and IIRC they were a bit inconsistent. ERDM has been smoking well for a while, even back that far as I recall. As for aging, ERDM is known for it's excellent aging potential despite being a light-medium cigar. FYI, there's a fairly well-known vendor that has some 07 VR Unicos available and another with 07 Boli Tubos #3, Cohiba Panetelas, Upmann Majectic, Upmann Regalias, Monte #3, Monte #4, Punch Punch, RGPC, RyJ CdL3, Trini Fundadores, Trini Ingenios, VR Familiar. There seems to be quite a lot of 07-10 stock available right now at some fairly reasonable prices. Of that bunch, I'd probably take a stab at any of the Monte, Upmann Majestic, any of the VR or the Boli Tubos #3. I'd avoid the Punch, the Trinis, the RG and the RyJ.
Stogieninja Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 Yeah, that's the vendor I'm looking at. Of Nov 07, my choices are the ERDM and the SP Belis.
danny Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 The ERDM Choix Supreme were in a bit of a funk for quite some time, if that's the cigar you're looking at. Only as of late have they returned to being something special, especially for the price. Just my two cents! As for aging, as long as they're properly stored, you be kicking yourself in the ass for not buying multiple boxes by the time she has her first boyfriend =)
PigFish Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 No one knows the answer to this!!! How about this, just by what you want, save the consternation and the money (premium for age) and smoke any cigar in November every year to commemorate her birth regardless of what box it comes from? Why let a single box of cigars worry you and shape the way you feel on your daughter's birthday? How about this! Put aside one cigar every year right around her birthday to smoke the next year on her birthday? The fact is, it is your daughter that is the special one here and certainly not the cigars. Okay, perhaps this is not the perspective you were looking for, but if you cannot keep much in the way of cigars for many a reason, I thought it might be helpful to remind you that the day of celebrating your daughter will be there regardless of a cigar! You could buy a cigar the day she enters high school and smoke it when she graduates. You could get one when she make the honor role and smoke it when she gets admitted to college... The permutations are endless... Don't hold her to one box of cigars!!! Cheers! -Piggy 2
Stogieninja Posted May 8, 2016 Author Posted May 8, 2016 Piggy, Appreciate the perspective. I'm not consternated or worried. It's not an agonizing decision. I already have the PLs, Im just wondering if people have had amazing experiences with either the Sancho Panza or ERDM that would make selling the PLs and purchasing either of the others worth the minor hassle. The box doesn't represent my daughter to me, it's just something fun to do in this hobby. I have similar boxes for each of my other four children. It's just rare that multiple boxes from 8.5 years ago are available so I thought I would solicit opinions on the two boxes currently available from Nov 07 Thanks for the inout though, it's a healthy perspective for all involved in this hobby!
