I don't know much about him but he certainly does seem like a breath of fresh air in international politics. It would be rather amusing to see any other leading politician try something like this!

we had a pollie here a few decades ago - i suspect the absolutely other end of the spectrum - but he was just as entertaining. Jo (he was premier of the state at the time and a bit intimidating - he just ruled as he saw fit)!

i remember a few highlights - when a young cadet journo asked him a question he did not wish to answer, he stopped the press conference and demanded all of the cameras and lights be put on this poor kid. who was by now almost wetting himself. when all the lights and cameras were aimed at the kid, jo just booms out, "HIM. HIM! he is the person who wants to destroy our state". kid was never seen again. it was irrelevant to the question but great theatre and a great diversion. no one diversions better than jo. he was well known, back in the days of the three minute video tape for news crews, to bumble and bluster for three minutes, which would be all the stuff the news teams got before they had to stop and change tapes, and then jo would just annoince whatever he wanted while they were desperately trying to get the cameras going again.
