Por Larranaga Montecarlo EML February 2014: Rocking Jocks Review Comp

My second review oft his comp and it is of one of my new loves. The PL Montecarlo. I purchased this box about about 4 months ago and it is quickly disappearing. Each one from the box seems to be better than its predecessor and the one reviewed was no exception.

This was enjoyed on a Saturday night after the family went to bed with a generous helping of Zacapa 23 over a large ice cube.

First third: Great start although much more intense than the others I have had. I would put this at just above medium when normally these are quite mild. I'm getting coffee, some dark chocolate and burnt sugar sweetness. Despite these being only a couple years old, the characteristic PL sweetness is shining.

Second third: The sweetness is really coming through now. Almost like having a coffee with a toffee. I wouldn't actually have that but this cigar makes it work perfectly.

Final third: Sweetness fades and coffee and chocolate ramp up. The coffee is dark. Flavours become pretty intense in the last couple inches. Very surprising given how mild these normally are but I'm not complaining.

I completely understand why these are a forum favourite. Love the size. Love the flavours. And love the price!

I have a box of these, I got for my bday from Dijit & Rob, but the box code is EML JUN 15.....however I was told that these aren't really 15's but 14's....not sure though......sounds delish, and I hope to try one tomorrow (30days from when I received them)

I had one of these last weekend from an EML ABR 14 box. They still have plenty of room to improve, but the caramely sweetness is already apparent. A couple of my buddies were with me who dont regulary smoke cigars, all of them could taste the same things I was tasting.

I also got coffee in the last half of this particular stick, but thats not something I typically get with these. Great review, great cigar!

Nice review. I hope you can save some away as the caramel flavour starts to come out as these age, but it sounds like these are so nice right now! Time to order another box soon?

I have 15 left from an EMA JUN08 box and each one I've had has been stellar. I keep seeing newer boxes on 24:24, but always too late by the time I get home from work. What a tragedy...
