boilers183 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 After a quick search on CCW and google, I was unable to find a list of current/recent boxes and cabs that do not have bands. I know the cazadores do not have bands, but are there any other regular production cigars that are boxed without bands? I've always like the look or a cab without bands. Thanks! 1
boilers183 Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Thanks for the response. I didn't realize that even the cazadores are banded now. Thanks again!
CaptainQuintero Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 I think the closest you will get are some of the ICT machine made products; some of their bands (If I remember correctly) are printed/glued onto the cellophane wrapper which you have to take the cigar out of to smoke 1
boilers183 Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Thanks! I remember an older box of JL no. 2 I had that did not have bands and I always liked the way it looked. Too bad every box has bands now, but it makes sense.
Habana Mike Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Yep, all cab cigars have been banded since around 2003. I also liked the unbanded look, glad to still have a few though not as many as I'd like..... 1

Whenever I see members posting pictures of their unbanded 50 cabs I get a little jealous haha

boilers183 Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 ... not just 50 cabs! IMG_3215.JPG -the Pig I know. Your partagas lonsdale post is actually what got me thinking about this! They look fantastic so enjoy the rest of them!
btp1979 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Great question! I was wondering myself! I remember going into a local shop about 6 years ago and discussing CC's. The owner said he loved R&J Cazadores but they were unbanded so he figured when he was down south people were scared of them and he would clean up at the LCDH's. There was nothing suspect about the shops or the provenance of the cigars, but he assumed an unbranded cigar would not be as popular in the US. I can't speak to the validity of his reasoning, but I do love a lonsdale(ish) cigar and I will say that is the reason I ordered my first box. But by the time I discovered our host, they were banded lol! 1
boilers183 Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 You can remove your bands and voilà!! :-) I actually do this for unique vitolas where I do not need the band to identify them! I generally smoke out of a desktop with a variety of sticks, so as much as I like the look without bands in a cab, they help telling cigars apart when they are all mixed together.
