zeedubbya Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I think I've figured out where all the Hoyo Des Dieux has gone. Read article about Anejados program and saw first cigar released in this program was Des Dieux. There's a little information here on FOH about this, and even a picture of the cigar courtesy of Nino. I bet they've been putting them away for an Anejados release in 2021 for the 10th Anniversary. Sound plausible? Anyone else ever had an Anejados Des Dieux?
Duxnutz Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I have a whole bunch of 2003s that are smoking nice. 1
LGC Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Haven't heard this one. Article and source? Des Dieux are too much of a quality blend for Añejado crap.
cooper669 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I found this: http://www.habanos.com/en/noticias/lanzamiento-del-concepto-habanos-anejados-o-vintage-en-el-mercado-interno-de-cuba/ excerpts: The 15th anniversary of La Casa del Habano in the Partagás factory at the already mythical 520 Industria Street, next to the Capitol of La Habana, was celebrated in the Cuban capital on November 14 -18, 2011. On this occasiotn, a selection of Habanos with more than ten years of ageing was made. On the welcome evening of the celebration of the 15th anniversary at La Casa del Habano Partagás, the Hoyo de Dieux vitola of Hoyo de Monterrey was tasted, obtaining an excellent valuation from the participants. Take it for what it's worth
TheGipper Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I'm pretty sure the original incarnation of the Anejados program was unsold stock returned to HSA. Perhaps stored for a while, then restamped and sold with an extra band. Didn't PCC do something similar years ago with some stock that had been sitting in their warehouse for years? The current incarnation of the Anejados program, starting with the Montecristo Chuchills, RyJ Piramides, are clearly a different thing. At least to my taste buds. These are clearly cigars with some first class tobacco in there. Rolled then aged just as claimed. The ones I've had (thankfully, I've avoided the Hoyo) look, feel, burn, and taste just like other boxes I've aged myself for similar timeframes. YMMV. No conspiracy, just some surprising foresight and self-restraint on HSA's part.
zeedubbya Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 I found this: http://www.habanos.com/en/noticias/lanzamiento-del-concepto-habanos-anejados-o-vintage-en-el-mercado-interno-de-cuba/ excerpts: The 15th anniversary of La Casa del Habano in the Partagás factory at the already mythical 520 Industria Street, next to the Capitol of La Habana, was celebrated in the Cuban capital on November 14 -18, 2011. Take it for what it's worth This article and an article in CA saying about the same thing is what made me consider this. Also there's a few posts on here about the Des Dieux Anejados being handed out at the "release party" so to speak. Just a crazy supposition more than anything supported by fact. Be interesting to see in 5 years if this happens since there seems to be no inside info on the subject.
cooper669 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 The article doesn't say the Hoyo de Deux were part of the Anejados program, just that they had more than ten years of age and were "tasted".
zeedubbya Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 The article doesn't say the Hoyo de Deux were part of the Anejados program, just that they had more than ten years of age and were "tasted". Per this thread from 2012 all evidence points to Des Dieux being the 1st of the Anejados. The band does say Anejados? http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=112494&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1
zeedubbya Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Thanks for posting the link zdub. Not a problem, I should have put it in the original post. Again this is more of a theoretical discussion not unlike the box code discussion. Will it ever be known? Probably not? Fun to talk about and discuss--absolutely. HSA has an awful lot of "secrets" I suppose this is part of the marketing ploy. Why would they miss out on the market corner which likes the Des Dieux? I love the cigar and wish I had more, and like other people am surprised they wouldn't produce this cigar . Oh well, if it does happen at minimum I'll have proof I guessed it and look wise to the 50,000 members on FOH in future. If it doesn't this thread will melt into obscurity--I truly just hope this doesn't happen to the Des Dieux.
CaptainQuintero Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 I think the issue isn't really with old cigars being rebanded and sold at a premium, it's the way the new anejedos have suddenly appeared; HSA/Cuba being able to keep them completely secret for the best part of a decade. That happening goes against everything people know about secret keeping ability in Cuba. That's where the chopped down/resized/reused cigars given new life under a different brand rumours start
