sister popped out to have a swim in her pool - she lives quite close to me. anyway, this slithered out of the pool. she grabbed a camera. told her she should have used a long distance lens. apparently, it was not in the least scared of her.

it appears to be a tiger but we are not an area with many tigers (some) but it could be a banded eastern brown. not common but not unknown (not a discrete species - rather just a colouring that occasionally happens).

my sister is now not planning on swimming any time soon.

I spent the last few days getting a few snakes out of my office. Been in here for a while, theres 5 of them that i have counted. All grass snakes i think, baby ones, about a metre long. Quick little buggers! They hide in the electrical ducting that runs through the office. I just let them roam and they pop out every now and then... but recently they've been hanging out near the door and i've almost stepped on them a few times so time to relocate them outside.. caught 3 so far.

I also find it surprising how many people think snakes can't swim! I swear one time in WA i was on a mine site and swimming laps in the pool and a snake swam past me quicker than thorpie!. No one believed that story though.

I battled a 3 foot black racer last weekend here in Miami. Wife opened the front door and it slithered right in and under the living room couch I was sitting on. Thank god I have a 5 yr old, quickly grabbed his light saber from the floor and some grill Tongs from the kitchen. 10 mins later he was flying over the fence end over end into the neighbors yard. Good times!

Snakes = 1 (got bit last yr)

Eric = 5 (5 in 5 yrs)

Hate those damned things. If one got in my house and I couldn't find it, the house burns down before I go back in it.

At least your sister can still use her pool this late into the year. In Sydney, without pool heating, you are usually done swimming by the autumnal equinox (20th or 21st of March each year). Thankfully, as February/March was so hot in Sydney, we got good use out of the pool this year, but no exciting snakes! lmao.gif
