Orion21 Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 "Ready for what?" you ask . . . Ready to ditch my big ring gauge cigars. This has been a topic of discussion lately, but I had a realization this weekend having packed a 40 cigar travel humidor calk full for a trip to Vegas. I packed a wide range from RASCC to SCDLH Torreon and smoked away for 3 straight days. My conclusion was I enjoy my Trinidad Reyes and RASCC more than any other cigars (even the Torreon) by a pretty wide margin. The next best was a PSP SCDLH La Fuerza from Rob that just seemed to be about as big of a cigar as I would want to smoke anytime in the near future. Not being a daily smoker I look forward to enjoying my cigars when the time arises. Since I smoke infrequently, compared to a lot of people here, I really look for cigars that are going to wow me. In the past 1-2 years that has been often smaller skinnier cigars. It started with the Partagas Short and now I find myself bypassing my big expensive cigars to reach for the above mentioned Reyes or RASCC instead. This weekend top 5 cigars were: 1) La Excepción Don Jose 2) Trinidad Reyes 3)SCDLH La Fuerza 4) RASCC 5) PL Encantos 2

New next few purchase will be similar to the 5 you mentioned. I'm learning that bigger doesn't always mean better.

JohnS Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 What I like about standard ring gauge cigars is that you can smoke them in 30 to 60 minutes, they are often packed with flavour and more forgiving on construction. Among my favourites are: Marevas (42 rg x 129 mm): H.Upmann Petit Corona, Cohiba Siglo II, Montecristo No.4, Por Larranaga Petit Corona. Minutos (42 rg x 110 mm): Ramon Allones Small Club Corona, Partagas Shorts, San Cristobal de La Habana El Principe Perlas (42 rg x 102 mm): Cohiba Siglo I, Montecristo No.5 Reyes: (40 rg x 110 mm): Cohiba Secretos, Trinidad Reyes.
SipIt Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I don't know, I like a variety. Although ones over 52rg are somewhat uncomfortable (getting a little more used to a 54).
