ned Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I just finished watching the review on the Allones 898 and the bit at the end about the bushido got me thinking... Do you have any input as to what Asia Pacific Cigar should do for their regional releases?I am thinking like the marca or vitola? I know there are lots of limitations as to the brands that can be selected, etc

That stopped about 5 years ago. Today they just do what they like and to be fair they get it mostly right.

They also require more time to come into their own, but I cant remember a PCC release I did not enjoy 1

I agree that the PCC regionals seem to hit the mark with my tastebuds and I've gotten comfortable buying boxes from El Pres without trying them first. Always seems to yield an enjoyable stick, even if it's outside my usual target zone.
PapaDisco Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I know this is impossible, but wouldn't it be fun one day to have an FOH regional release? A blend agreed upon by Rob and Ken (there's an entire soap opera in that part alone), per Ken's requirement each box would be specific to, and signed by, an individual roller, and the cigars would come with an ornate second band featuring the Monkey in Fedora (on account of Ken's royalty rate being so damn high!). Ah, to dream, to dream . . . 3
monkey66 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Since we're getting a monkey in on this I vote for a Dip 7 1
El Presidente Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Except for delivering them on time right? That is the fault of Habanos/tabacuba I feel sorry for PCC and other distributors who are left hanging.
skalls Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Yeah, didn't mean that was pcc. Definitely habanos

Ah, to dream, to dream . . . There was! The Czar and Tampa, came out for a limited run about 4 years ago. Snapped up very quickly. The blend was finalized by Rob and maybe one or two others. No bands on them though. Still have mine aging in the coolidor!

Snapped up very quickly. The blend was finalized by Rob and maybe one or two others. No bands on them though. Still have mine aging in the coolidor! So proud of those. Loved them but a father finds little fault in his own son or daughter None left (that will save PM/E-mails) but I would love to do it again. Having them made is not the problem. Shipping them in quantity is given it is illegal (shipping out of Cuba non authorized product). So much easier when HSA had a "questionable" Commercial VP who was doing things on a much grander scale. The vibe at the time was "As Rome does, so can we" Playing with tobacco/blending is something I could immerse myself in full time. I just know what I love. I love to share the result. I am not a tool person or a person of science. Scent, feel, taste, balance are the only tools you need. 1
Fuzz Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Have only one Tampa left. Still say the reason for the shaggy foot is you ran out of wrapper! Somehow, I can't bring myself to smoke that one just yet. Maybe I'll take it with me to Cuba later this year to smoke. 1
rckymtn22 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I have the will power of a jedi, 11 Tampa's and 6 Czar's left. Only smoked the one Tampa so far.

Duxnutz Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 What was the profile/tasting notes on these Tampa/Czars?
