Overproof Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 If this cigars wrapper had a face it would be an elderlies sunburnt pelt (every beach has one), tanned, veiny and slightly out of shape. Felt like a beat up sand shoe in the hand.Nevertheless, after a few rums of courage your still going have a crack knowing it's not what's on the outside that counts. Right? Time to sample the fantastic within the plastic. No need for my cutter, this comes pre cut to every smokers desire. Pre draw is wet and has a very strong pepper and tobacco aftertaste. Something I find with many non Cuban cigars.First few draws after lighting are everything I expected from this, raw as all **** Cuban clippings, the rawness quickly subsided and left me with pepper and herbal/woody aftertaste. Smooth retrohale to my surprise. Pleasant smell. A fast burn but spot on as far as overall consistent ash. Certainly not the worst cigar at this point. I get the same thing for the next inch. Nothing more or less. Think of a blind man watching a silent movie. The next half the smoke is thicker and coats the mouth with still (you guessed it) a very peppery after note, perhaps I'm smoking it too fast or guess what? it could even be a **** cigar. The earthy wood picks up with moment of sweetness if there is such a thing. Not a refined sweetness more a rawness about it. This is its glory all of about 10mm of it. The only change in the cigar. It's great for this cigar haha. I'm left with about one inch left and I receive my call back from my ISP regarding my internet connection. They told me they would call me back in 5 minutes...LIES!!! that turned to 2 hours!!! I'm not sure which was shitter, this cigar or the conversation I had with them after I left the inch left on this beast to die its own death. Can you even buy these cigars? If so I wonder who buys them, seriously.I'm thinking pubs, clubs and, servos. I'll never have to pass my fingers over this cigar again. I guess I have Rob to thank for that. I do however have a cigar my mum got me in china. Have a guess what its called? 'Great Wall' I'll save that for next time. It's just as rank looking! 3
Scrubber Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Nice review lol. Gave me a good laugh especially the opening paragraphs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
helix Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Hehe !!!! "a blind man watching a silent movie" LOL!!
Trevor2118 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I'll put my money on the Great Wall over the Guantanamera. 1
NapaNolan Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Certainly a different reason that you passed over your cigar than my entry!
frenchkiwi Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 ha love the review, i discovered one of these at the bottom of a humidor the other day. still waiting on-call for that special "non-smoker who wants to try some of my stash when drunk" emergency. as for the great wall of china, when i was over there i smoked the cigars (tasted like smoking varnished wood until we chopped off the filters. then it tasted like varnished cardboard) and drank the wine (brand has no relation methinks but it was pricey-ish and most palatable).

Haha the one I have is in a tube. Looks hand rolled, petit carona size no filters. You want it?
AlohaStyle Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Haha. Good thing they gave out samples of Guant at the Partagas Festival opening dinner a few years back.
squizz Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Man, I have never even heard of this cigar. I have much to learn.
luv2fly Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I remember smoking one. Awful! I think if I rolled up my dog's **** from this morning and aged it for 5 minutes it would have been better. These would have turned me off Cuban cigars if I had not had good ones before. Great review!
mash Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Man, I have never even heard of this cigar. I have much to learn. All you need to learn is never buy these. Or, you could buy one and use the wrapper to file your nails.
rckymtn22 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Yes they still sell these unfortunately. There was 2 guys from Quebec behind me in the LCDH who asked a few questions about Montes and R&J and had a look at my price list. They promptly walked out with a box of guantanameras! Oh well we all make mistakes!
