El Presidente Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I have had a couple of requests of late as to how to stay at Hector Prietos Magnificent finca in pinar. It is easier than you think. I was sent the link this morning https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/10390460?s=iBBMd5Qf How the world is changing! 3
Habana Mike Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Thanks for the heads-up Rob! They were just finishing construction on these when I was last down and thought I'd really like to give that a try if I had the chance. Just put in a request for the shag overlooking the creek for the Saturday to Vinales. Note that there are many amazing properties for very reasonable rates in Havana available as well. Things are definitely changing!
Ryan Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Changing indeed. I had a tent and a wash in the river. I'd recommend it to any cigar smoker. The food is also very good. "Smoking allowed"! I love that. Best of luck to him.
Cohiba007 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Really awesome. Hopefully one day very soon
Puros Y Vino Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I didn't do an overnight stay, but an afternoon visit with Hector and other FOH friends. We enjoyed his hospitality of an excellent pig roast lunch and free flowing Havana Club (they were showing of the newly released 3YO product). It's a picturesque, tranquil setting. Totally worth the trip out. And I can't say enough about Hector. Very welcoming and accommodating gentleman. 1

wabashcr Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I've not had a ton of farm rolled cigars, but the ones I've had from Hector and Miguel are amazing. Worth the visit just for those alone, I'd think.
CUBANO Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Its worth the trip to make it to the farm. They treat you like family. 1
NapaNolan Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 This makes me wonder, do you guys speak Spanish or do those guys speak English/Australian?

Guest rob Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 If traveling to Cuba, to make your trip as enjoyable as possible, I'd recommend learning some basic Spanish.

Fugu Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Do not confuse "Dónde está el Malecón", with "Dónde está el maricón". Está por detrás?
cybermadhatter Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I saw the finished living quarters when I visited hector in November. All look good. I love how the old school (finca) is on the new school technology (airBnB) 1
CanuckSARTech Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Do not confuse "Dónde está el Malecón", with "Dónde está el maricón". Fuzz, oh please tell me you're coming this November?!!?!?! LOL.
Fuzz AI Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Fuzz, oh please tell me you're coming this November?!!?!?! LOL. Yes, I am! Already locked it in to my calendar and filled out my leave application. Now I just have to make sure my bastard of a boss will sign the form and grant me leave. He can be a real jerk at times. Ah, the life of the self-employed... 1
jat Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 That looks so great. But WTF message from Airbnb "We've determined your location to be in Australia. We are not licensed to provide booking services for this listing." Might have to be a bit clever about booking this or some of the other Cuban place.

With regard to AirBnB, at the moment only US residents can use it to book accommodation in Cuba (this applies to Cuba only). I have no idea why. I presume something to do with the US business licence they received.
cybermadhatter Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Hot, bright day. We talked with Hector ( well my Spanish speaking friend did) and smoked some farm rolls. We had some coffee and two of us took the touristy tour, as our friend and Hector hung out. Miguel rolled us some cigars with medio tiempo wrappers 3
